Sports hate is the best hate. I know as a Dodger fan I’m supposed to hate the Giants, but other than that prick MadBum, I don’t really care all that much about em.

If I had to give odds on the Dodgers winning it all this year, I’d put it around 20%. I still think the Yankees and Astros are better top to bottom. But I’ll take a 20% chance this year with a great young core and farm system over finishing 30 games out and no real hope of getting better anytime soon.

    so many weapons, new pitcher?
    OK
Three of the next four batters were right-handed pinch-hitters:
    Freese, Chris Taylor and Hernandez

all would reach base and score.

astros - rays game on mlb network ?

pretty sad that espn/fox and tbs/tnt thinks the ratings on it will be worse than airing a friends rerun. sure, mlb network needs to justify themselves, but it is a playoff game and there's not 40 of them like the NBA or NHL.

Yankees/Twins game 1 was also on MLB. I had to sign up for a free trial of YouTube TV which I’ve already canceled. Thankfully the ALCS will be all Fox/FS1.

MLB on multiple providers is annoying. I pay for MLB.TV as I dont have cable, but playoffs are all over, likely have to listen to the World Series on radio or at a bar.

And man I want Russell to catch Dick today

Beuhler vs Strasburg to stay alive. It’s going to be a stressful Wednesday night in the Rice household. If AJ Pollock sees the field it’s going to be a drunk Wednesday night.

Yeah, what a goat-fuck he's been this season, add Joe Kelly and it was not a productive off-season for los Doyers as far as free agent signing were concerned. If they get past the Washington Nationals, both players ought to be dropped from the playoff roster along with Jansen.

Kelly is absolutely nasty when he knows where the plate is, and was lights out the last 4 months. He was bad on Sunday, but no way in hell he’s off the roster. Same goes for Jansen. He’s not what he was but is 100 times better than anyone they left off the roster. If they win tomorrow I could see them bringing in Gonsolin for the NLCS, but he wouldn’t take Kelly or Jansen’s spot.

They do need to back the Brinks truck up for Gerrit Cole this off season though.

It will be very interesting. I would be little puckered up. I would not want to be facing Strasburg in a do or die. This is the nightmare scenario they did not want- to face the Nats in a short series. Buehler better bring it. If he doesn't and they have to use Ryu and/or Kershaw that could fuck up the rotation for the NLCS even if they win.

    Go Nats!

But his effort last night was a fucking abortion. Three walks and a hit and no outs in what was not a particularly pressure-filled situation. This guy's supposed to be closer material.

That guy has sucked all season! But at least on Sunday, Roberts finally figured out how to use him effectively- Give him a six run lead, needing only three outs, while facing the bottom of the order. This is about all that Jansen's useful for.

EDIT- I'll temper the above comment a bit. Jansen has been effective when he has a favorable match up (e.g., rightys, bottom of the order, etc.). He ought to be used when he has such an advantage, but never again as The Closer. He no longer possesses the stuff or the temperament for that role.
