Beats the fuck outta me, but I suspect Downey Jr. makes more than Trout. And after 25 years in Hollywood, Roberts knees, shoulder, and elbows will still be fine. Liver, well....

And that doesn't even compare to the devastating toll that the NFL exacts from its employees.
Athletes are not hourly wage slaves.

Speaking of which, where's Downey Jr. been lately? Know what I mean? Furgetaboutit when we're talking about actresses over 45.

You pivoted from baseball to football. Two different animals. Baseball is much safer and healthier.

    Neither are actors.
But all your points are correct. I just get a little defensive when pro (team) athletes are called out for making ridiculous amounts of cash when actors "seem" to get much more dolla dolla bills with much less physical sacrifice or hours per day. There's plenty of hate to go around I'm saying.

    And better too!
Yeah, I know I lawyered that, but you left the zone open in your first post, so I took it:

fuck the owners who raise ticket prices, start all the games for tv way too late, and move their teams around (or threaten to) while looking for as much public money as possible for them to cart off.

I think we can all agree on that. Fuck pro sports in general, but in the meantime... let's go Sox.

Heading to NYC later today for a meeting tomorrow AM, only gonna be in the city like 18 hours but considering tomorrow is opening day I'm wearing my Red Sox tie. I hope somebody doesn't like it

    second that.

living in Houston I saw the nfl team do that and mlb team threaten it, just so they could get more money. now there's lots of fools that still line up to pay whatever is asked; but I'm out. if team and players want to be free agents; so can I; been to as many rockies games as Astros in the past 3 years.

Any predictions for the sox this year? can they win 100 games? 108 was a beastly total, I don't think I'd bet on it.

you forgot "and sell off as many good players in the middle of the season as possible even if the team is still in contention"

Well it was red but I’ve had it 30 years.

Ml, no way on 108, but 100 should be possible. I’d take the over on 95 for sure.

Thanks to Farhan Zaidi, the Giants will now be the A's west. Maybe they'll be scrappy and make a run every year or two- just to lose in the wildcard or divisional series- but forget about championships. I know I should give it more time, but I'm not liking this moneyball shit so far.

    MLB Thread 2019

Farhan Zaidi seems a little geography-challenged

    Edit: nope, I am though

You and me, who have both hated the Yankees since our youth, in the soulless new stadium in the Bronx would be a hoot.
    We will make it happen.

Good luck in money making Manhattan

Found a screaming deal on flights so I’m headed to Seattle to watch the Sox. Going to miss today’s game since it’s a day game but will see Friday and Saturday. Stoked!

Pete Alonso made the show for the Mets. My son-in-law played with him in the minors the last couple of years. Pete has monster power and should have a run for rookie of the year. Jacob deGrom said Pete had the most power he had ever seen.
