Dude, don't post a link to fucking Facebook that requires you to log in. Some of us don't participate in that bullshit.

Holy hell, the odds. Good on the guys who tripped their beacon into search just to make sure.

Crunch of the deployed airbag?!
Wonder if he was late pulling it and it was still trying to inflate?
Wonder why he wasn't on top?
Wonder if a bag of Cheetos would be just as effective for a lot less $?
So many unanswered questions.powdork.com - new and improved, with 20% more dork.

What could I possibly glean from those comments that would be worth joining facebook?
Dudes came across a slidepath, flipped to search, saved a miracle survivor. Could there possibly be more that would impact my travel in the backcountry?
I don't think so. Dumb luck, and a good execution of protocol out of a selfless group.
You do know that airbags can't combat tons of avi coming down on you, but can help you elevating in the flow?
That they slowly deflate and also offer an air pocket by doing so?
So why the fuck should I join facebook again?

I dunno, stuff like this
from the page
"Liza xxxx he was in a group of three. It was a steep pitch with loss of visibility of the upper part of the run from a few rollovers. His friends lost sight of him early on and weren’t sure which direction he had gone and didn’t see him trigger the slide. Hence one of Esther’s main takeaways posted, always keep your friends in sight"
"David DeGraw they’d lost sight of him as he dropped down and didn’t even see the slide. They told us later they’d debated hiking back up over a ridge to go look elsewhere. But they decided to keep heading in the original direction where they thought he’d gone. They eventually saw us digging him out and rushed down to greet him upon his revival."
"No it was triggered by the person carried in it. We were skiing the pitch to lookers right and saw the debris field half way down, one gully over and decided to go ski it for the safest way down. Very lucky we decided to follow protocol and switch our transceivers to search mode. The tracks in the second picture to the right were from a group that skied past us while we were zig zagging down searching."
Of course a lot of that stuff won't make sense, because without visiting the link, you can't expand the pictures either (but why should that matter, what info could you glean from those?)

All I'm saying is don't jump on the guy (you didn't, glademaster did) for posting the best information available just because you made a decision not to be able to see it.

Also from the FB page is that the selfless group was likely with a local guide and a photographer they brought from the states.
They were just outside of Happo 1 in hakuba.

whether it's enhancing my life or anyone approves of it is irrelevant. dude posted information as it was available and he got yelled at by glademaster because glademaster himself had made the decision not to be able to see the info. instead of asking politely for a different source he yelled at the guy.

Jesus, just create a dummy account for accessing FB. I use it for accessing local BC groups and selling/trading gear.
I hate Zuck's guts, but sadly FB isn't going away anytime soon. What's frustrating is that there is plenty of quality content posted daily there, but unless it is linked directly you have to sift through all the bullshit.
