TR: Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley, AZ

I was able to check this place out last weekend. Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley is above Tucson, AZ with a base elevation of 8200 ft, offering 900' of vert is the most southern ski area in the US. It is a rad throwback type ski area with $45 lift tickets, minimal amenities, great terrain, minimal grooming and no snow making. It is rare they are open for more than a month or two each season but when they are and the snow is good I think the skiing here would be as good as anywhere. If anyone isn't comfortable skiing here without a guide I can volunteer my services or knowledge.

You have dust on your sensor.

But otherwise, I rate this TR 2 sonoran dogs.

This will be my 47th season at Mt Lemmon Ski Valley, learned when I was 4. My old man is still the lone paid ski patroller, with a few volunteers to back him up. He's 80. This is by far the most positive review of Mt Lemmon that I have ever seen, congrats on your even-handedness and your rose colored lenses. I was actually there that afternoon, but the snow was bullet hard and shitty, so I left after 3 runs. Come up if it snows again!

I'd love to somehow catch a powder day up there. The road closures suck but I really do like the ski area. The guys who cut those runs knew what they were doing, the terrain is maximum fun for what it is.

Good spring conditions skiing or does the small amount of snow melt too fast?

Melts pretty quickly. Rode my road bike up there a few times...riding back down was prolly prolly better than skiing there.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.
