The scalpers and the craigslist burn artists clean up year on year.
You only have to volunteer with the org 10- 30 hours to get a free ticket, which comes with free meals and privileges.
Great way to go. I got a wap and get to do art car tours for media and movie makers this year. Stokified.

Dude I work with at The Star has been going for at least 5 years now. He volunteers to work the medical tent and gets a ticket for that. Not sure where or who he stays with, though. He's a late burner, too, as he started going when he was 60+.

This thread brings up an interesting observation I have made here in Verdi. No Names.

There is this guy I have known for 15 years? Local to my area. Bartender. Always talked about Burning man. His thing 365 7/24 -- He is a confermed member of the Anti drug Crusader Class. = Informant? Committed Crusader ? Being blackmailed by the DHS? But there is is.

Does that one crew still erect The Thunderdome at BM? In 2002 there was a giant geodesic skeleton which spectators could climb. Participants inside the dome were strapped into bungee harnesses and given soft swords and let loose to fly and swing around and bash each other. That was some cool shit.

Yes. Last year I spent an hour chatting with the guy who makes all the batons. I think it was their 15th last year.

Still the same setup, dookey. Still the same chant.
Thunderdome is now a traveling mainstay.
I bet it goes to TV like wrestling and MMA but with a twist that it's all amatuers.
I love seeing Thunderdome along Esplanade every year.

One of our camp mates 2 years ago was at Thunderdome every night. Red leather, warrior face paint, she was all about it. Pretty sure she kicked some ass.

If the battery for my ebike arrives in time, I'll be a lot more inclined to log some serious miles to visit all over this year.
