Kids Summer Camp Reccomedations for NE

Lots and lots to sift through as I start looking to send away the 9 year old for a week or two. Any input is greatly appreciated. I have ruled out the performing arts camp upstate NY. Not Nebraska. I am looking at NH, ME and VT.

As a kid I LOVED the YMCA Camp Lawrence on Bear Island in Winnepessaukee. 2 week sessions, shuttle barge to get there, totally isolated. Girls camp on the other end of the island with hiking trails connecting the two and a "social" every two weeks.

As a stupid teenage "C.I.T." I got fired before the end of my first summer as an "employee".

    Good times all around!!

    Place is awesome: https://www.capecodseacamps.com

I went there a shitlong time ago. One of my old counselors runs the place now. Just really a great place, but I bet it's not cheap.

We spend a bunch of time each summer in Orleans, this one is on the radar for sure but the kids have enough "Cape" time without it so I am really hoping for more of the lake camp cabin thing.

    See above!

One of my (many) great memories was timing water skiing class with the US Mail boat passing by the island. That thing threw off the biggest wake on the lake, and we would all fight to be behind the boat when it went by.

    Good times

I was a counselor at Kingsley Pines, which seems to hit all the notes for "Classic Maine Summer Camp." Long-ish sessions, boys and girls cabins on a pretty lake on opposite sides of camp, standard camp activities (including the $$ ones like rock climbing or mountain biking or wakeboarding). Rabid camp alumni. Mostly well-monied east coast families. Basically, it matches what you have in your mind when you think of the phrase "east coast summer camp."

My daughter has gone to Camp Takodah in So NH for many years and is now a counselor. Some kids are third generation.

    Take a look - https://www.camptakodah.org/
