Yeah, our war with the snowboarders was actually right around the best point for the board, IMO. The days of Spicoli and MPK, phunk and those guys. I guess it was still good a few years later, too, but for me it didn't get a whole lot better than that.
The newschoolerz thing definitely sucked. I never really looked, but I felt like it may have been a little more entertaining on their board. I don't think most of them were ever smart enough to figure out what was actually going on (even some of the snowboarders realized we were over here).
Almost scary to think about how long we've been doing this...
[//quote]

I experience an Epic like site all about road biking, and, dear lord, the dork factor is off the charts at times. Right now there's a thread that's reached 8 pages consisting of people telling me how tough they are because they're actually out riding a bicycle in weather like this. My irony meter detects nothing. It's creepy.
Place is good for equipment recs, though.

Don't know it, so that's easy for me.
But I thought the female involved posts/posted here. Or at least over at Epic.
[//quote]

I skied with quite a few people from there back in the day. Trisha and DannoT stand out as very nice people and very good skiers I enjoyed skiing with. But ya, it is/was a different feel than this place for sure, hence why I post here with a rare appearance there.

Their DNA can still be found on the interwebz
http://www.therusty.com/2005_ESA_Weekend.htm
"Our philosophical observation of the day was "where does edge change happen? (with respect to where the feet are relative to the upper body). When the feet are underneath the body, the edge change is effective. When the feet are ahead of the body, the edge change sucks. We proceeded to watch other skiers going by us on the trail. Every last one of the mediocre skiers was changing edges with the feet in front of the body. Ok, we've seen a ton of comments about how deadly being in the back seat was. But looking at it from the feet being forward perspective instead of the weight being back combined with WHEN the edge change occurred was really frightening, especially when viewing from the side."

I remember PowDork once posted footage of skiing Terminal Cancer (I think) and the thread devolved into whether it was actual skiing or not. And for such a tight couloir, he skied it pretty fluidly for the most part. lol... guessing that was one of his last posts there. That's about the time I jumped ship.
