My father grew up in Trail and had great memories from there. That said, he moved out east for work and to start a family. Was very Italian and blue collar as mentioned.
I've been once but I was ten, all I remember are beautiful mountains all around, all of the town exists on a slant, and you absolutely need to eat at The Colander.

If someone would put a high lift in above the current one at nakusp that’d be a sweet spot. That’d really put cherryvale in play as well. Soooo much win in every season

I used to go there and eat greasy cheese burgers with the head of the data center who's kid was on the Canadian DH team and the large systems guy who had been there for 42 years, Red has a great racing tradition so it was always an interesting conversation

Haha on the edit Lee. Agreed.
Anyway Red would be great if you could live in Rossland not Trail. If you can afford Rossland OP, do it. I'd probably live there if I could afford it and I didn't love Terrace so much.

The appeal of Trail was a nice "Craftsman" home built in 1911? that had been restored for about $220k usd. Nice view of the river and walking distance to most everything. Everything else I have seen in that price point is a bland shit box made in the 50's or early 60's with 0 appeal. I haven't seriously looked hard, but just quickly looking up to $500k hasn't yielded anything exciting I would be interested in and ya, golden dildos in the bathrooms sounds like a nice touch

"Hey, this town in the West Koots has a cheap old house that looks cool. That place must to awesome, it's probably just like Coronado in the mountains!"

I am calling you as soon as I find the spot for sure. Thing is, I am pretty much in retired mode these days and $220k was do-able paying cash for a place. Once I get up to $500k usd, then I have to sell an existing property and if I am going to do that, then I want something nice.
I suggested a road trip to my wife yesterday. Fly in to Calgary, say hi to the step bro and cousins and then start driving west for a few weeks before flying out of Vancouver. I need to see what is out there and more importantly, she does, as getting her to move will be a challenge unless the natural beauty is off the hook. If we see an area that works for her, then maybe we rent for a season to see how she feels about it before buying the golden dildo palace.
Edit to add: all the cool kids will always be welcome at Che L2S

This place is pretty cheap. It's actually bigger and nicer than the place we had.
The only problem with is that there are a lot of bears around in the late summer/fall.
