Way to go Roo!! You realize with permit to hand you have officially jumped the shark right? You either have to take up a new passion or move down to the tropics to chase them wiley bastards full time right?

Good timing on the Cuba trip. I read yesterday that the State Dept. (or whatever agency it is) has rescinded most of relaxed rules allowing USers to legally visit Cuba. I should have gotten my ass down there in the last few years but hadn't pulled it off yet.
PS: Nice fish too

I have been positively infatuated with fishing this river in RI. Recently, I have been hiking into stretches of stream and river that are seldom explored. In fact, the pictures below are from an area that recently became state property after having been posted no trespassing for a very long time. It’s an interesting paradox fishing there. It has sat so long without angler pressure. There is not any trash and the fish are plentiful. On one hand I protest private land. Yet, because this land was private, it has remained mostly pure. I advocate access, but must admit I feel conflicted.
On a more important note: I and a few other anglers are fishing this river and logging temps and catches. There are several derelict impoundments that need removal. RI Dept of Environmental Management is slow to progress in dam removal advocacy. Chris Wood from TU was given a tour of this watershead last month. Unfortunately, despite his position on dam removal and not stocking over native populations of brook trout, the local TU and other offspring fly fishing clubs refuse to abandon advocacy for these practices.
The impoundment issue is the biggest threat to this river. Last week, water temp was 58-60. The air temps have warmed and today the temps were 62-64. It is warming quickly and water that sits in pools above impoundments is the cause of this warming.
Anyway, sorry for the disertation.
Here are a few pics of the this special place (for those that know New England, this is not the Wood River).

In case you haven’t heard about the Flybrary Project, crawl out from that rock you’ve been living under and learn about it from this video.

Nice work Rev! Yep you are officially fucked! Nothing like feeling the immense power of one of those bad boys coming out of the water.
Love the flybrary Roo, so did they let you back in the states to start it or are you going to have to be huge from the land of Fidel?Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?
