^^^ You should ski the qst118. I was super sceptical but it's a great ski. Only carbon ski I've ever skied that was damp.

His sentiment at the end really captures adventuring on their level. Another dope episode!

Cody, after witnessing the majesty and beauty of Nate's turns, when can we expect you to free your heels?

Awesome. Looks like you got to snow fast on the up. The views of Tyndall sure make me want to try to ski that one also...this was the year.

What do guys do for water refill on these huge days? Everyone carry a pocket rocket and melt snow? We had 1 for a group of three on Big Willy and it wasted too much time refilling water.

Maybe I missed it in the vid but I gotta ask, out of thousands of amazing lines in the eastern Sierra why is this one a 50? The potential looks unlimited there so I'm just curious what makes this one stand out. It can't be the approach obviously!

And what a fun series! Thanks for creating some killer boredom therapy!

My take is that they kinda had to do something on Mt. Williamson (after Bloody couloir and Whitney) and that's the most distinctive line / option from up there.

Cody - 10 hours on the climb, how long did the descent end up taking?

Big Willy has the full mix of classic Eastern Sierra skiing, and Giant Steps takes all of those to the nth degree.

Elusive. Need a big snowpack to do it. 2019, 2017, 2011, 2010, 2006, 2005 - in other words, doesn't come in every year.

HUGE. Williamson has the biggest uplift in the Sierra - from ~5500 to 14300. Second biggest monolith after Mt. Tom. It's visually stunning. That Pioneer Peak in Palmer AK that everyone jizzed over (I HAVE TOO!!! it's unreal) "only" goes up 6000 vert.

    Route-finding issues...in the dark...on loose, chossy, sandy no-trails.

Terrain. Connects three 45*+ chutes, the first two of which end in death cliffs. Very unusual for California - maybe not so in the Alps.

History. Most lines don't have a known history, but were first done by some reclusive Yosemite climber tripping on acid and done in leather tele boots in the 70s. Giant Steps has some documentation: https://backcountrymagazine.com/stor...h-sierra-line/ More history: https://www.earnyourturns.com/2500/t...liamson-14375/ (I doubt Alka is right - I'm sure a lot more than 10-12 parties have skied it.)

It's quintessential Eastern Sierra - huge lines, starting in the sagebrush, brutal schwack, huge vert (have I mentioned the vert yet?), and the entire approach and ski looms above the pan flat desert of the Owens Valley. Giant Steps is a - no, THE king line - in the Sierra.

I really hope Cody slays Bloody BN on a snowboard on July 4 while calling his mom.
    sproing!

    Another great episode.

Props to Cody for keeping the series going into May as opposed to withholding content until the fall...

Yeesh that approach and bushwack would be like adding a few thousand ft of vert on. Splitboarder summed it up well. Best beer evvaarr

Great episode. I really liked the music throughout. Cool line. Cool footage. This episode had a very cool, chill ambiance which I enjoyed very much.

Episode was fantastic overall but as soon as I saw buddy drop the knee and heard other buddy vapidly philosophizing about the euphoria of it all, I must admit I cringed.
