Amazing accomplishment. But isn’t the Landry Line off Pyramid the line in The Fifty? Maybe he already skied it a different time?

North Maroon is the only one of the three that is one of the classics.

maybe start a new thread for Wirth's stuff? I get that it's tangentially related, but, should maintain focus on Cody's efforts imo.

    Agree

I understand that. I meant the North Maroon is the only one of the lines skied in his Hat Trick that is one of the Fifty classics.

I'd say it's way more than tangentially related, and question if you know what the term means. But I agree, his successful efforts should have their own place in the limelight. It will keep us from having to check this Wirthless thread during the off weeks when Cody isn't posting anything.

I mean, sure, but more in the vein that this thread is about Cody's journey.

    Bonus Vid!

I'm a noob, but the 240 length probe surprised me. I've always been told 300 is the way to go for deeper snowpacks (AKA Tahoe/AK/PNW). Does it make a difference or is the thought process that the extra 2ft isn't gonna matter if the burial is actually that deep?

It was a due to the pack. Unfortunately this pack didn't fit my Carbon 280, which is the probe I have with my 95% of the time.

Another great episode and I think it highlights the differences between what you put in your pack based on the objective. For example, my typical Teton west side tours do not require a glacier rescue kit. I think more about what if scenarios, such as, what if my snowmachine breaks down or equipment failure or someone gets injured and we have to spend the night. Fire making kit, expanded first aid and extra dry layers all meet that scenario. For me the biggest challenge is that my pack seems to keep getting heavier while I keep getting older.

I'd love a bonus episode where you discuss what you've learned regarding training and recovery. I know there are other sources for this information, but I think you can deliver it in a way that is accessible and applicable to the average joe (like myself). I want to get faster and be able to do more vert, but right now the only tool I have in my toolbag is "get out more often and go farther each time".

I'm no Cody but I'd strongly recommend Training for the Uphill Athlete if you like nerding out on fitness and efficiency with a focus on mountain sports.

They also have a website where you can get specific plans and coaching if you are into that sort of thing.

I'm new in my 'taking training seriously' journey but that book has been an eye opener on all the ways I wasted time doing things I thought were helping me be more fit or faster.

And whatever you do - start trail running.

Pretty sure that's the group Cody worked with on his training. I know he has mentioned the book before.

It is who I trained with for a year and I've altered the way I train based on that experience. Far too much to go into here, but Z2 training is awesome, but it has its limitations.

Sounds like a bonus episode/bonus series to me.

What's great about these vids is you really see the work and decision-making and disappointment that goes into a project of this magnitude. It makes it that much sweeter when you see something like that Sphinx vid, with an absolutely ripping pow run on an all-time line under blue skies. It makes us appreciate the work that went into scoring it, rather than just the ski porn highlight reel.

It's an IceRock Idol axe. Came from this Russian company. It's pretty impossible to reach them and order anything direct...and that was before the war. It took me a year plus of scrubbing the web to find some to purchase. They're incredibly light weight and really good for 90% of ski usage but a little too light to take onto real ice.

Seems like the coaches split up? Not sure what happened between Johnson and House.

Z2 is incredible, but easy to get weak besides building a massive cardio engine. Hard to do both at the same time, IME.
