Also, simply put, some of these lines are impossible to ski that fast. No one is going to flash Robson, for example.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Given condition, right equipment, and available evac support, I'm guessing Cody would entertain the idea of opening it up on some of the descents. But that's nut really the goal of his project.

Cody skiing TC on snow blades was a joke. But he skied it in just over a minute ten years ago.

maybe it's just me but every time I see a video of TC the juice doesn't really look worth the squeeze. looks like one of those lines that's super impressive shot from across the road, but the inside is kind of meh. I'm sure it's fun and good on anyone who has skied it of course

it's only like 35º or something right? still, pretty neat bucket list kinda thing I suspect. the rubies are beautiful, if nothing else skiing it gets you there...

Yeah, that day honestly sucked bad. I was pretty miserable for the most of the second half of the day.

Someone didn't watch Episode 2...In all seriousness, if the conditions allow it, of course I'd open it up. But most of the lines are steep, exposed and climbable only when it's stable and often not great for opening it up. When the chance is there, of course I'm gonna ski fast because it's more fun, but more often than not, it hasn't been optimal for skiing the way I did for the last 15 years.

So i was thinking about this last night. After the "Crack" there was no real way to top that without taking insanely huge risks. Others have turned to new sports when they felt they had hit the risk ceiling while skiing (usually a more risky sport). Instead you've decided to turn your skiing in a different direction.
Was a feeling that your (as of then) current trajectory was unsustainable over time a part of your decision to take on this project?

besides its aesthetics and location, what makes tc a classic is that its pretty much obtainable for anybody with half a skill set, and those with skills, can rip the shit out of it.

that last episode was hilarious. i love this series and already cant wait for next weds+++

Yeah, I've said this in quite a few podcasts lately but I 100% felt the trajectory I was on was unsustainable, both from the level of line that wouldn't get me excited/motivated to the only line that did get me excited/motivated and how insanely dangerous that was to continue to push in that realm. I pretty got bored (oh and this is like the most jaded 1% of 1% thing to say) of heli-skiing, the pampered lifestyle of it and filming lines. I needed/wanted something different that I wasn't getting anymore from traditional ski-porn film making. So over the last 4-5 years, I started exploring many different realms of mountains, from far flung expeditions, to high-altitude adventures to human powered line skiing. Over those 4-5 years I settled on the fact that I'm obsessed with the west coast of the entire North American continent. The Fifty then fit right into that realm. So now over 2 years of dreaming about this, I'm doing it and couldn't be more stoked about it.

Great! Your first run will be The Crack. If you rip that, all of Cody's sponsors will be yours to have.

Less than 2 turns is mandatory for spancer stealing.
