I love how all the episodes are so different.
Came away from watching the last one with a huge smile on my face for the rest of the day. Encapsulates all that is great about skiing with friends.

I just want to second this. I enjoyed watching you go over lines in Google Earth, and I'd have a ton of interest in the preparatory work you put in—avy conditions, timing, route finding plans, etc. Maybe it's my niche interest, but I think showing how much preparation goes into this would be educational and impressive.

Usually the episodes kick off at the trailhead. The process of deciding what size weather window is good enough, putting together partners, etc., would be an interesting angle.

    If Cody started a Patreon,
    say "Skiing with soul",
    focused on backcountry pursuits,
with a social conscience (stuff not made in sweatshops and/or at least country-of-origin identified),
with an environmental conscience (stuff made with more 'natural' materials and/or environmental impact identified),
    well,
I would pay a monthly stipend on Patreon to see that.

    Crazy eh!
Imagine skiing that cuts through the commercialism that I and so many others are caught up in,
that recognizes the privilege that we all have,
to wear and use various manufactured goods,
and brings it to the level of environmental conscience.

    This would be revolutionary.
You might not get the usual sponsors (or you might),
but I would gladly pay to see that.

    It is just an idea,
a rough sketch of what I see would be something
I'd like to see Cody pursue after the 50.

    Throwing it out there.

Just watch out that Cody doesn't eat gondola cables. He could totally do that and then you'd have to come up if a post scientific explanation for it. Maybe aliens caused a massive wind spike with their dark matter windmill near Squamish.

And cody: anything that pg deems a good idea I'd give a wide berth.

Thanks man, that's definitely a huge huge goal of mine. To tell a vast variety of stories. To show as many of the different types of days and experiences we have in the mountains. For instance, we could've played up the fact that Shasta is a long, high vert slog of a day to get to the top. But what stood out to me was just how much fun we were having as a big group of friends. So let's tell that story. The slog stories will be aplenty.

TGR is known for producing action-sports films with environmental messages.
What the skiing industry is not known for is social and economic messages.
The marketing bulls eye is now for the generation seeking meaning, and seeking justice, and seeking more than just experiences.
The future is in making what we do more conscious.

It is just an idea, and if some big names embrace this,
    it can change the industry,
even if it is just acknowledging the theme,
a la land acknowledgements recognizing activity on traditional First Nations/Indian lands.

Also for example, A la Greg Hill and his electric car exploits.

Cody, how much of the “story” do you typically have planned before filming each attempt? Do you go in having an idea of what you want to focus on, or do you just try to film as much of everything as possible, then decide based on footage afterwards?

Another pro has a whole thread dedicated to bashing her because she was pushing a message...bashed for being self serving and disingenuous.
While it smacked of misogyny, there were plenty of comments by the posters pretending it was about faux environmentalism.

Cody has a nice vibe going without getting preachy.

Little bit of both. I try to focus on one story in pre-production planning based off the line, the people and what I think may happen. I'd say 75% of the time, the story goes as predicted. But then of course, I have to leave it open in case shit changes like on Joffre, Curry and Pyramid. Also, sometimes I come up with something or a theme and then just go full bore to make that happen...i.e. Spearhead Traverse, Mt. Tuk, Shasta.

Normally I don’t watch credits as I am shit with names. Watched all the way through this latest one. Thank you for putting a story out I make sure to set aside time when a new episode shows up.

Little off topic. Alka do you mount your QST106s on the line? Have really enjoyed the QST 118 which has a very forward mount. 106 more traditional. Curious as to your take?
