    RIP John Bogle

Will be missed. A part of a vanishing generation that was conquered by the immoral and greedy on Wall Street.

He was great. He might've done more (positive) for the economic position of the middle class than anyone else over the past 50 years.

Father of passive investing. Had a heart transplant some years back and fared far better than anyone expected. A well lived life

I think he had a few.

Could've been insanely rich if he wanted to.

Dude is a legend who did a ton for the average investor. I've been following his philosophy my entire adult life. VTSAX/VTI FTW.

Seemed like a solid dude. I had high school math and science classes in a building he donated the funds for. The biology lab had a nice view of the first tee.

Correct. It's a modest 9 hole track though.

9 heat attacks, 1 transplant. Transplant lasted over twenty years. He and Caroll Shelby lived a long time with somebody else's heart.

According to the internet he was worth $80 million recently. Seems adequate. Was there anything he wanted that he could not buy?

I have a huge issue with the multibillionaires, with the possible exception of Bill Gates, who seems to be trying to do something with it. But even Uncle Warren, wtf? Put the money back in play, help somebody. Keep a billion or two off to the side for hard times but come the fuck on.

Uncle Warren is also donating and giving back, maybe not as fast or as publicly as Bill G. though. Reports vary but he has given away more than $25 billion. according to one source, CNBC claims it is higher and more than that. Some of it has been through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation also.

Well the fact that I haven't heard about WB's philanthropy doesn't mean shit. If he's getting after it I applaud that.

Slight thread jack, but FTR the Gates Foundation probably owns more BH than Buffett these days:

Along with Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett is a foundation trustee, helping to shape our vision and develop strategies to address some of the world's most challenging inequities.
