They bought them from 2nd tracks. They are narrow tip and bamboo
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

still one of my favorite skis of all time and still hold up exceptionally well compared to modern designs even though they have to be close to 10 years old. Good thing i already have a backup pair

EDIT - actually 12 years old, wow

Have some mounted up with ST2's. Love them on deep days here in Tahoe or even 1ft storms if I want something a little more surfy underfoot.

I've also got an undrilled pair of these. mc_roon and GSGF, where'd you mount them?

The narrow tip first ones had black sidewalls. The bamboo sidewalls (second ones) had wider tips, pretty similar to later 138s.

I can't tell from the photos on KSL, looking on a phone, whether those are narrow or wide tips.

These look like narrow tip versions from a shape perspective.
Three fundamentals of every extreme skier, total disregard for personal saftey, amphetamines, and lots and lots of malt liquor......-jack handy

I'll have to check when I get home and get back to ya.

The tips are wider than the black sidewalled versions, but still narrower than the later iterations of the 138 when I eye-balled them with a buddies. Didn't measure, so can't comment as to how much narrower.

I'd bet money they're rocker-0, based on tips and rocker profile.

Those look like gen 0 black sidewalls, narrow tip. Gen 1 was bamboo sidewalls, wide tips, more rocker.

Gen 0 also has a more matte topsheet & the red was darker.

Guessing you saw them in person then, confirm bamboo sidewalls? Could be a one-off hybrid between gen 0 & 1 then

I saw the 2nd tracks pair and discussed with the guru 1000 oaks. I did not buy cause we thought they were R0. Tips too narrow based on Marshall’s thread.

But I can ask if anyone is really interested and try to get more pics. I’m local and can facilitate shipping and demo them for you prior to shipping to be sure
