    2019 Tennis Thread

Kick this off with the start of the Australian Open.

Stevens wins a tough first set vs fellow American Townsend. Go Sloan.

Sucks to see Murray end via injury and not of his choice.

Curious to see how Nadal and Federer hold up this year. Hope they are healthy for the majors.

You have a point Marshall, however since it's started...

Great day for the Canucks, not only 4 in the singles draw (possibly first time for that) but I would say the first time that everybody made the second round. Everyone looked strong and Genie looked sassy, strong AND beautiful in her little tennis suit. Milos and Genie are going to have very tough fights in the next round (Wawrinka and Serena).

Props to the young Pole (Majchrzak) for giving Nishikori a hellova scare. Very impressed with the parity in both the mens and womens game these days. Possibly best ever.

Raonic and Wawrinka in a barn barber. 2 hrs, 2 sets. Could be a long one. Go Milos!

Keys and Svitolina in a third set thriller now. Svit rolled in the first. Keys rolls in the second. Both on their game in an even third so far.

More great tennis by Milos. Looks like he has a pretty good draw to get further...

Weird commentary by one of the colour guys who suggested it was good form for Zverev to totally destroy his racquet, even so far to say it was a good release for him. Far from good form I say.

Be some great quarter final matches. None including Fed??!! Too bad, I'd have given him the GOAT moniker if he got more silverware here.

What happened to Federer? Seems like he imploded. I've been slacking on watching with the time difference.

    ^^
Don't think he imploded so much as he just couldn't raise his game up to the other guy. In the past he's been able to do this, I believe it's much tougher for a guy in his late thirties to lift one's game. Having said that, I've been wrong about Fed being washed up before so WTF do I know.

Raonic should have an easy time of the Frenchman, given how fast Milos has been dispatching folks this tourney, hopefully Nishikori takes Djoko to five sets (however improbable that would be). Other side of the draw looks interesting as well. The match between Nadal and Tiafo should be interesting.

Great to see a combination of young guns and wiley vets in the second week.

Solid answer. I'm amazed he hasn't retired to spend more time with the family, teach, etc. He is so smooth on the court.

I always wonder if they didn't eat well or get enough sleep or just having a bad day. Can't believe Rafa's knees are still holding up.

Clearly I need to catch up on the tournament...my ESPN app on my TV drops out too often and I get lazy about logging in. Again.

I follow the majors but am not a diehard fan, so don't often have a lot to say. But I had to post to make it 5.

I'll chime in during the next major I can watch at a respectable time.

    Go Nadal!

I still haven't watched a full match but got to see first set at Illegal Pete's . Novak makes it look so easy. Nadal is awesome but he just isn't as smooth as Rog and Joka. He's certainly held up longer than I thought he would!

Is Del Potro even playing? He's hot!
