Nettles and 4th class sufferfests, biking at it's finest.

Out in the backyard Saturday on the mtb for the first time since July 4th, felt odd as fuck. Probably should balance the mtb/gravel ratio. Trails were unridden and slick after some rain. Typical for August around here, # of bikers drops like a stone through thin air.

Thinking about doing this as a warmup for The Overland. Coupled with the Nanofest it would make for a great day. Hmmm

Even old mostly unridden trails are just chock full of hero dirt right now. Fuck yeah.

Hero dirt in some spots, wet off camber roots in others. The GF just moved to within striking distance of a bunch of different trails. Got to the Hadlock side of Falmouth today.

Nice rip around the local tonight. Fo-cast seems to portend the slick is returning.
Found it funny, sad, not surprising the climbing route is getting little traffic and growing back in some areas as the local shit club is promoting top drop and ride down to counter our climb and descend network.

why would they want the uphill trails to grow back in?

It looks like climbing up is still pretty big in your area.

It's growing in because hardly anyone climbs up anymore. Some ride up the road instead of the trail, Schewdyballs, most shuttle to the top. And the climbing route isn't the preferred downhill so it gets little traffic. I also had to stop at a rock wall where some dildo rearranged it to make a drop that was unrideable going up do to wobbly work ect. and pitch a rock aside.
That Strava ride showcases some of the worst riding in the area. 15% single track, 60% dirt road and 25% paved, not pave'. Might just as well ride all gravel instead.

Elm Ridge is fantastic! Down the hill about 30 minutes from there in Roundtop is another kickass trail network.

Any suggestions for a trail network near Moultonborough, NH? Any thoughts from the collective on the Abenaki or Alton trails?

Clients from last summer have a place in Wolfeboro and said there is no exciting MTB around that area.

50 minutes gets you to Page Hill In Hill. Super fun riding.

Park at 650 Murray hill Road
Bear Claw > Hydra > Access Rd > The Dude Abides [one of the best rocky tech trails I have ever ridden] > Shock Therapy > Access Rd > Bug Out > Hydra and beers at car.

Weird Appalachia feeling as you get close to the trails but all of the prep schools ride there, ran into Holderness and another when I was there.

I thought the Alton trails were fun, mix 'em up with dirt roads and doubletracks that are all over the area and you can get a nice long ride in. There ought to be more with all of the old pathways and work roads in the forest there but I'm guessing the local just don't talk about them but Dan Mutz used to post pics of some nice stuff. Maybe find him on FB and ask, I know he's working at the shop in Concord now.

I can't believe how dry it is by me now after how wet it was for so long. Since the middle of June when it dried out I'm under 3" of rain in two months and things are not just hardpan but are turning into sandy, dusty nastiness. I keep watching the rains go around the area like there's a bubble over us. Ooh boy we got a few tenths of an inch last night, better get out and appreciate it this morning before it dries out again or travel further for good dirt.

Nothing (legal) in M'boro but North Conway is right up the road and is great. Highly recommend trails over by cathedral ledge, and redtail further north.

Plymouth has some great xc riding, too. Stop at rhino cycles (off exit 26, iirc) and they can point you in the right direction.

Nice, thanks. And Anospa just informed me that red tail is now the climbing trail. Merp. Regardless, very stoked to be family vacationing in this region.

Road is definitely still the best, but if you end up doing smoothie you can come back up red tail pretty easily to get to anything else up there!

Rode Marshall Conservation in Conway today and something else that borders it (High School loop?), very fun. Met some local NEMBA legends who showed us a couple cool little spurs and go-arounds, what a treat. Great spot, back to Conway at least once more this week to try something else, sooo many options! Also, trail features that go up, along, and down stone walls are maybe my single favorite thing about NE trail riding.
