No info on that mini-notch.
Are you jumping into JB’s, RAS grind? Right in your hood. It’s a fun one and it’s great cause. This will be my third year doing it.

Look at who is Doing gravel events, lol. That section crosses over to the Grassy Knoll exit of the MTB trails. We road down the last part of it when we all road there a few years back. Really steep uphill section and some pave' downhill. Unless geared low it would be a hike if it is wet. Short section, go for it!
Got my Boombox Rex yesterday, waiting for the bar mount, thanks for the heads up to ordering one Butta. This little speaker rocks!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves! The actual event isn't until August, but I want to poach it before then.
Might do the same thing with the RAS ride, but I'm leaning towards actually participating since I know Jack, Marybeth, Fin, and of course, Shane.
Thanks for the info on the notch. Looking at the topo, a HAB seems inevitable.

A couple of hours after serious rain and we were back to hero dirt. It almost got dusty for a minute there, thank goodness for a well timed shot of rain Yeah, like I said Fucking Hero Dirt!
My favorite hill surface, poorly York raked pebbles.
Nine miles of pave' training at bloobs on the dirt sidewalk after some spinning. Around twenty mud pits to avoid that should be attended to.
At least Saturday is now forecast to be rain free in the seven day. Quick ride this morning is in order to avoid said rains.

Pulled the Ibis out for the first MTB ride of the season last night and what a night it was. 9 of us from the club out there. Lots of wet spots still.
Quite pastoral heading back to my buddy’s place from the woods.
After the ride, we found an old set of golf clubs in the barn and had a Happy Gilmore contest while sucking down Barr Hill/Fever Tree gin and tonics until the sunset.
When he pulled a 15lb lasagna out of the oven and put the NHL finals on the big screen, the night was perfect.

Goniff and I are talking a return for Bike and Brew. Weather dependent and will make the call when next weekends forecast becomes available. Discounted tickets available through 6/17 and we would do Saturday at the park. In the lot grilling and chilling between sessions. Hopefully my buddy Fast Jim will be there to show us around again or perhaps the Mad Hatter and his gal.

I wish some of these names and locals meant more to me, but anyway, man rode Glen Park in PA yesterday. Doesn’t suck at all eh?
Has anyone done done business with Calfee Designs (specifically their carbon repair)? I noticed a small crack in the non-drive side of my rear chain stay. According to the LBS it isn't a huge deal but I should get it looked at just in case.
They do great work, a little pricey but they do it right. There are a few others now that are supposed to be good too, Ruckus Composites https://ruckuscomp.com has a great reputation.
Rode everything in nrthfld today. 3.5 hours old man slow pace. Up slate ave from downtown to the summit. Down the summit single track, goat path, pony Express, Kingston trail. Up pot/raspberry up Phil's to the ridge trail and over to the block. Down orange, secret trail, yellow...over to the Paine mtn trail and down slate ave trail to good measure brewing for 3 crushable Daryl's. Life in Nrthfld was good today. Shits wet but not too bad. Bikes are fun.

It has not rained all day continuously like this in a long time. I'm starting to feel like GL last year.
Yup wet all day here too. I've said it a few times now but it seems like the soil has taken all it's going to and everything new just wets the surface again and the rest runs off while things stay relatively firm and eminently rideable. The surface does get greasy but it makes things sort of fun in a masochistic kind of way.
I've got this pedal assist thing pretty much figured out now so I can keep my heart rate well within the target range. I'm getting some decently long rides in and having a ball doing it.
Family is down in 'Bama so I've been hitting the trail work pretty hard. Got a lot of fixes in on the old trails, slowly armoring the newest trail down to Kingston Rd....it's a really wet zone. One or two more sessions and it should be set for a while. Yesterday we cleaned up the small connector single track on the ridge between Irish Hill and Nrthfld, and extended it a few hundred feet. Creeping towards our goal of inter-connectivity on mostly good trail. 10 year project. Building trail is fun.

Terrific weather at Sugarloaf this weekend. Conditions were great with just a few mud puddles. Light rain Saturday evening made the riding on Sunday great.
Saturday rode what seemed like most of the major hits, all the singletrack up by hurricane ridge, loops around the Nordic center, then across the road and up past the hut and down oak knoll. Sunday did some oak knoll and bear laps.
Super impressed with the place. Machine built trail still had a lot of rock and technical features so it didn’t feel like a paved flow trail. Can’t believe CRNEMBA has done all that workin such a remote place.
It’s like the anti KT. Saw a total of 7 other people all weekend on the trails, with 5 of those interactions on the trails immediately around the Nordic center. Couldn’t believe how empty it was.
Will definitely go back. But damn, I had forgotten how far away it was.
