Anyone know what's fat bike-able around central/northern VT? I planned on riding Cady Hill this weekend but was hoping for something different.

Anyone in Colchester know how wet/snowy the Sunny Hollow trails are? Thinking of riding the light tackle up there on Saturday and zipping around the trails on the drop bars.

Idk if I trust that. Let me text a friend who lives near there to see if she knows how they are.

Edit:She says they are riding great. I will stfu.

I didn't realize there were trails at Proctor, but that would be the closest place to go (~15 minutes): https://www.trailforks.com/region/pr...&lon=-71.82826

Pinnacle in Newport is okay, but windstorms and logging have screwed it up a bit (~25 minutes): http://www.team-pinnacle.org

Boston Lot in Hanover/Lebanon is good (~35 minutes): https://www.lebanonnh.gov/Facilities...vation-Area-12

If you are willing to drive a bit further (~50 minutes): https://www.nhstateparks.org/visit/s...ook-state-park, https://www.nemba.org/trails/new-ham...ook-state-park

Looks like Green Woodlands and S.T.A.B. at Ascutney are both closed to MTB traffic.
Thanks. I'm coming up from Concord NH so pretty familiar with Bear Brook. Sounds like not much close by so might just do Franklin Falls on the way up.

Your friend must ride on studded tires!

    Sketchy AF.

Otherwise a nice 20+ mile loop.

No worries. Would’ve tough on a fat bike, too. it was hardened by many hikers and refrozen into glare ice in many places.

    Whatever doesn't kill you?

Bolton should be good in a few weeks, let me know if you want to ski. My turn to bring the beer.

Keep me posted on any bc missions once the base builds if you’d be so inclined. I “work” from home so typically have flexibility midweek. I don’t have a Bolton pass but would be willing to pay the bc access fee when the conditions warrant. I tend to roll w copious amounts of Hill Farmstead.

Doh! I figured you were coming from someplace further away. I forgot about Franklin Falls, until a friend of mine suggested it this morning. I was inspired to go check out Proctor. The trails go up the back side of Ragged, so it's all up hill. For real. I think it took me 90 minutes to get up and 15 to get down.

I really haven’t heard a good case for not using studded tires for winter riding. I don’t yet have mine mounted up but will be soon now that my driveway and the private roads to my neighborhood trails are sheets of ice.

Got out for a quick ride today and enjoyed a mix of snow, ice and frozen leaves...

Hmm. Glad I didn't try Proctor. Was biking with the wife and she has less tolerance for type 2 fun than I do.

Drying out today and mid 50's tomorrow. Sounds like hero dirt (hidden under leaves) that needs to be ridden on. Anyone want to head for the Lower Hudson Valley and meet me somewhere?

We went from fucking hero frozen dirt to around 10-12"... and it's still dumping. We don't need any snow at the beach.
