Hope Hoji collaborates with the designer of the venerable old Solly SX 92e boot for the Free 2.0 version. Adjustable flex, ftw.
Master of mediocrity.

From Dynafit re Hoji Free
The boot is compatible with alpine ski bindings, in accordance with DIN ISO 9523 and therefore especially versatile.
In contrast to the Hoji Pro Tour, the Hoji Free is also compatible with alpine ski bindings with its
forward lean and modified heel.
With its increased rigidity, thanks to a unique Grilamid material with fibreglass, and its progressive flex of 130, the Hoji
Free possesses all of the characteristics to deliver the best power transfer and top downhill performance. With a last
width of 102 mm, three micro-adjustable buckles and the Ultra Lock Strap, the foot sits ideally positioned. In downhill
mode, the Hoji Free locks out at a forward lean of 11 or 17 degrees thanks to a spoiler at the cuff that can be taken on
and off
light weight of just 1,550 grams,
Size 25 – 29,5
MSRP 750 Euro

Finger crossed no more surprises from Dynafit, as my Vulcans are falling apart

what is the weight "penalty" for getting the Freetouring version vs the tech/dynafit only version?

102mm last? I’m sure I heard Hoji discuss how the fit was being narrowed and refined from the current model.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in any touring boot width. Pretty much all Dynafit and Scarpa boots have been 102 or 103 for the last decade, with some being narrower, some being wider, and all fitting fairly different.

Sounds like a great boot. In the podcast I just heard narrower last than the pro. Was hoping it’d be similar to my Vulcan. They feel like a 100 or 101mm(geussing). It was out of the running with the lack of compatibility with most bindings and 103.5. Now it’s at/near the top. I’d definitely welcome the ez top buckle. That’s the main thing I don’t like about the Vulcan. Holding out hope for a similar last

I can’t say. But I think a fair part of the design was intended to give it a progressive flex. I don’t have a problem with my vulcan(maybe occasionally if I happen to do an inbounds run or 5) but if it’s better than that I’d say it’s a bonus and adds versatility. I won’t be a beta tester but I’ll be paying attention

The 102/103.5 last is a hilarious number. Sure, the widest part at the metatarsal heads may be that wide but every other dimension of this boot is low volume, like, lower than any freeride touring boot I've tried on. It's a good design, give room in the one place that needs it and cinch up the rest of the boot tight. Unfortunately, we are all used to a 102 last being in a high volume boot. Most people I know upsized in the Hoji this year.
