Today Facebook Market place purchase 186 09-10 Moment Bibby. I would say for me this is the most influential ski on my skiing. no I don’t do tricks it just skied so awesome and made me feel like a superhero. Glad to have a pair back in the quiver.

If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

First pair of skis, need some help :)

Steven's Pass is my home mountain

I'm looking to buy my first ever pair of skis after crappy rentals for years, I already have boots. Unfortunately there's no place to demo moment skis anywhere near me. I kinda have to take a leap of faith, but I fw moment so I'd like to pop my cherry. I think I narrowed it down to DW 104 or Countach 104, what would you recommend? Also what length?

I asked reddit and people on r/skiing discord before coming here. They were all doomer posting saying that I will seriously injure myself with any moment ski that's not Wildcat 101. Like I had a patroller guy dm me and said that Countach 104 is too much as a daily driver even for him as a patroller, much less myself. He recommended I get some mid 80s k2/rossignol bs and avoid moment skis until I can confidently go down black runs.

0.0 chance of a Moment Black Friday sale right?

Wildcat 101s are in my future but my cheap ass will hold out for any discount.

Patroller guy needs his pass pulled. You’ll want a length that you can ski right now, but also grow into as your skill grows. I’m a fan of the triple camber, so I’d say DW 104. It can pivot and shimmy down the mountain easily as an intermediate, but be stiff enough to lay into as you get better and not fold. I don’t have experience with the CT, but the DW series is Moment’s best selling for a reason. With your height I’d go for the 174’s. With the triple camber, they ski shorter but will have plenty of ski for you to charge when you’re ready for that.

@srod. D-dub 104 in the 174cm. Best ski for the intermediate - all day, every day, every run, all conditions.

    Internet "ski patroller". Love it.
Countach. Full fat countach. 182. Take your tech money and go buy them now. Like now now. Put some pivots on them. Point 'em straight. Thank me later. Or come down to Crystal, I'll show you how to Ski 'em.

And don't ask fucking reddit for ski advice. Jesus Christ.

For the record I feel like progressive mounts encourage poor form in new and intermediate skiers.

Stupid as hell. I think the cooter 104 would be a great ski for you. The 110 was super intuitive from first turn. I don’t think you’d have any trouble with that ski.

I own both deathwish series 104/112. 104 is one of my absolute favorite skis. I also own the 110 Countach and love the ski. Haven’t had the chance to get on the 104 yet.

personally I would not recommend the deathwish until you can demo one. People either absolutely love triple camber or absolutely hate it. There is typically no middle ground, and last thing you want to do is spend good money on a new ski to end up absolutely hating it and no enjoying your experience. I’ve let a decent amount of people try mine and some people absolutely wanted off the skis. Triple camber is great but very unique feel wise.

the Countach 104 is going to be more likely to jive with you across the board. I assume you’ve rented more traditional style skis with rocker camber twin tipped rocker camber semi flat tailed and probably a slightly more reward mount points. The Countach is in that sweet spot mount point wise with a slightly more rearward mount without being overly directional. Still feels plenty playful, very easy to pivot and smear and unlock the tails when needed. Holds a great carve with the longer effective edge length.

While the Countach line up can charge very hard and has a high top end it doesn’t need to be getting pushed to the edge to be fun so it won’t feel like too much ski for you.

at one point the dw series was the best seller and the moment folks can correct me but I believe the wildcat series has been the highest sellers for a while until the last few seasons where the Countach line up has blown up. Overall % wise the cats are still the highest selling because they have the most skis in the lineup production wise but now with the Countach 104 added I think the Countach is going to get pretty close.

I’d recommend a 176 countach 104 as your first buy. I think you’ll be very happy on the ski. It’s a great introduction to moments lineup and a very usable ski for you.

If you get a chance at some point take a trip to Reno and demo a deathwish 104 and 112 and if you enjoy them I’d say add one of those to your quiver. Having a Countach 104 I’d obviously say add the 112 to your quiver as a wider option. If you did go the deathwish route I’d recommend 179 104 if it’s going to be your first one. If you already have the Countach then I’d recommend stepping up to the 184 112. Hope this helps.

Get the Countach. It's not necessarily "better" than the Deathwish, but it's more intuitive. There a better chance you will click with it.

I skied the Deathwish for 3 years, and recently converted to the Countach. It is fucking dialed

Ha! This was my experience--on both ends. I hated it the first few times on my DW104, but then it magically became my most-ridden ski I cannot remember what shifted my perspective from hating it to loving it...

Unfortunately, my DW104 is no longer. It suffered from a core issue after ~150 days and Moment provided a WC108 as a warranty replacement (they were out of DW104's). Now I worry that I'll miss the 104 and am contemplating a DW104 or CT104. Or a Commander 102. Or 92. Too many options!

ya I was a triple camber guy from day 1 on the skis. The DW 104 is one of my “cold dead hand” skis along with my meridians and ghost trains. Those 3 will never leave my quiver. If they die they’ll be replaced right away.

Man LOVE the new bases on the blades. That’s the one thing I wish was different on mine. The mint base is ok but the graphic base is where it’s at.

Couldn't resist on these. Had to buy a pair to use while teaching the kids to ski. Haven't bought alpine bindings in like 15 years-- is the Salomon Strive 16 good to go? Need something that works with touring boots.

ya have strive 16’s on my deathwish 104. Great binding. And the mnc is super easy to adjust. Though I went pivot for the blades

In my mind it will now forever be the "Moment Cooter."

That's the ski Bo and Luke Duke would use.

124 pairs of blades gone in less than 12 hours. Now that’s how you sell a ski. People want what they want.
