Countach 104 has more effective edge than the Countach 110. Just eyeing it, it looks like there is less tip taper. Probably the right design decision for a narrower ski like that.

I love my Countach 110s. Dreaming of a Countach 116 with a slightly softer tip flex, maybe even a touch more taper. That would be a SICK pow ski. Big time Governor vibes throwing back to old school Moment.

I skied with you in Mammoth on the 196 Governors a while back. I could never get along with that softer tip outside of pow or groomed, I had similar issues with a couple Nordicas Enforcers. I felt I could charge significantly harder on 190 Wildcats in less smooth conditions, even though I do tend to prefer directional skis mostly.

I didn’t have this issue on 196 Bibby Specials from over a decade ago, which were similar to Governor but heavier and slightly stiffer tip. The BSpecial had more taper in the tip so float was similar, and I think I recall they carved better too. I had 190 Bibbys and 196 Bibby Special at the same time during 2013 season in Jackson, and I always thought Special charged harder. Had 190 Wildcats and 196 Govs back 5 years ago, and was surprised when Wildcats were faster for me.

I kinda want those 196 Wildcats in Ski Burger for the feelz

ya that guys a fucking tool. There’s nothing soft or noodle about any of the wildcats. Including the 101. It’s skis essentially the same as the PB&j. I know this for a literal fact as I just got done talking with max at moment literally about the difference between the pbj and 101 as I’m about to buy a pair of pbj and wanted to know what the differences were between the two as I’ve been on the 101 but not the pbj. It’s just went from aspen/pine to ash/poplar. The 101 got a dual radius while the pbj is one. Flex profiles are basically the same

I really want to try 190 WC101, however a used 188 PB&J would be perfect right now. My budget, and I’d prefer shorter in the park. Still thinking about those WC101s in SLC tho.

Good find. I’m looking for older, before the change. With any changes, I’ll just go all the way with 190 WC101. You’re making me want that 2024 pair on KSL even more.

Fairly stiff skis that were super playful. Not as charger as my current WC108s, and the 108s probably carve just as well, but I remember 188 PB&Js being more playful (more nimble and precise in the park)

if it’s the same process as last season you have to buy the demo pass for $50. Gives you unlimited demos throughout the season. If you purchase a ski from that current season your $50 will go towards the purchase of your new ski.

He's a big part of why I grabbed DW's. I ski both the 104 and 112. 90% of my time is on the 104. It's a damn good ski. I've been completely happy on it to 10-12" of fresh snow, but you can still push it really hard on firmer conditions. The 112 is also rad. I could daily it if it weren't for having skied the 104. They truly are the same ski, just a bit narrower. Exactly as you'd expect. Just a bit quicker edge to edge.

The DW is my spirit animal. They match my mood no matter what that is.

I've tried my son's DW 104 on the groomers and they really charge and carve. I'm mainly on the DW112 99% of the time, so the 104 felt like a much more lively, damp, easy to roll over and carve type of ski. I like big carves, so I generally use a wider stance so I don't mind rolling over the wider skis to get on edge.

The Summer snow...yes, maybe a less waisted ski would be better, but its also nice to have a wider platform to glide over the bumps in truly horrendous conditions. :-)

^Interesting. My biggest complaint about my DW104s is that they aren't nearly as damp as the DW112. The 104s are more stiff, but notably less damp in my experience.

Edit to add- this is undoubtedly subjective based on individual planks of wood and skier weight.

My second pair of DW112s are more stiff than my first pair of DW112s but equally as damp despite being the same layup.

For me, the increase in stiffness on the second pair was a benefit because they deflect less in crud.

Ok, you got me. I guess I should say that it's a perfectly shrunken version of the 112. I appreciate the changes made so that the narrower version skis the way that it should as a narrower ski. I have skied them back to back and they are not radically different in my experience. The 104 rolls a bit quicker, can be pushed harder into the shovels and is a bit stiffer. Exactly what I'm looking for in the narrower ski. The 112 is a blast in soft snow and super versatile. Love them both and that's why I have them both. The 104 just gets more snow time for me.

Edit again: I've been continually amazed by how versatile they both are. The 104 surfs above it's waist class and the 112 carves better than it should. I'd be hard pressed to pick just one.

FloridaSnow, have you ridden the Commander 92 yet? I have the 102, but find myself riding the DW104 much more often. I'm tempted to try the 92 for when it's really horrendous out there.
