To be fair, I'd rather have people who ride fast with giant blind spot and limited skills playing a speaker than wearing ear buds given the choice. Bad music isn't risking blindsiding other people from behind and putting them in the hospital because you couldn't see or hear them.. Plus, I can hear them coming up behind me better...

After multiple close encounters with grizzlies I started hiking with a Bluetooth speaker. Never saw a grizzly again after I started playing music. Also never saw any deer or elk either. Apologies to any of you who were in the YNP backcountry and heard me.

I’m typically a person that will ski with one headphone in when with groups or skiing busier days.

Last year during midweek days I’d throw the phone on speaker during solo chairlift rides. Was hitting the podcasts pretty hard at the time, which lent itself nicely to those rides. As soon as I would come near someone though I’d switch back to headphones only or pause it entirely.

Unless you are playing Slayer chances are nobody else will like what you’re blaring.
