My wife and daughter were staying in a hotel like 4 doors down from the CBS studios during the NCAA's in 2017, they ate dinner in the bar. Charles would come running in and pound a drink during commercial breaks, watching the TV to see when he needed to be back.
People were cheering as he bolted out the door to get back and the whole place would go nuts when he was shown on camera like 90 seconds after he left the bar.Last edited by iceman; 12-18-2018 at 05:44 PM.

God damn it! I didn't think he'd die in the end.
Ice, that is hilarious. I would be buying him drinks.

My favorite Charles Barkley story: after getting an intentional foul called against him for an elbow to the chest of a skinny Angolan player in the first dream team Olympics, Barkley was unapologetic, saying that basketball is a tough game and if the Angolan wasn't tough enough he shouldn't have been out there. Said Bob Costas: "And Charles has obviously been overcome by the Olympic spirit."
The OP certainly shows a different side of him.Last edited by old goat; 12-18-2018 at 08:19 PM.

When I was a kid, we lived in a ritzy area of North County San Diego for a few years in the early 90s. I had a friend down the street whose folks were serious art dealers. They had an in at the NBA all star game and my buddy went and met the big shots at maybe 10 years old. He said that Sir Charles was the NBA superstar who would go out of his way to chat up the little kids, sign autographs, and generally be great. Jordan was an asshole.
I've never forgotten that. CB's schtick might get a little old sometimes as a commentator, but he's a pretty decent human being in addition to knowing hoops. That's somewhat rare in a jock of his stature.

I'm imagining the TGR version of this when one day Harry's kids find out he skied with Benny.
