Arrived at Zahav at 4:25 yesterday and there was already a line. We missed the bar seating, so, told at least an hour wait. Nope, sorry. Had lunch at Dandelion, good stuff, cool place, weird warm Brit beer.

The Philly Museum of Art is an incredible collection, very well displayed. I'm guessing that, between that building and the Barnes, Philadelphia houses the most Cezanne's in the world.
That Rocky statue still has a long line in front of it for pictures .

Late to the party, I'm partial to John's Roast Pork for cheese steak. Fuck the cheez whiz bullshit.

Major bummer the Rodin museum currently isn't open, it's well worth stopping in for an hour or two.

I don’t go back to Philly without going to John’s, so good. If I’m solo I’ll get a steak and a roast pork, eat half of each and take the rest for later.

Jesus, seriously? My dad grew up there and took my siblings and I for a brief driving tour through there in the mid 90s. It was... frightening. How times change.

Edit: oh, yeah, and you can't go wrong with Steve's Prince of Steaks on Bustleton.

I had an amazing meal at AMADA, right after it opened.......good thing I just googled it. All sorts of crazy going on with Jose.

If I have a chance to do so I always head to For Pete's Sake pub. Great place for burgers and beer and fantastic food. It was fun watching the owner try to give a speech on St Paddy's and fall off the ledge taking out a buffet table. My bud lived right around the corner from Pete's for a bunch of years.

Amada was really good last night despite it being restaurant week and a limited menu. Got a great portugese wine there last night.

Bumping this for you, Benny. We got an inside connection for lack of a better term that’s getting us into Zahav tonight. I’ll be chucking salatim down my throat all night.

In between a chefs tasting menu with wine pairings, Uber back and forth into the city from the burbs and baby sitting probably looking at a >$750 night. So worth it though. This place is really amazing!

On the way back in traffic on 676. So many great combinations and flavors. Hardly anything I would ever choose on my own.

Are they still serving that roast pork dish you almost have to reserve ahead for?

Reservations impossible to get up to end of July, when the calendar ends.

They probably have better <insert whatever> in New Jersey anyway.

Super jealous mtnwriter - I could see wine with that meal costing easily $750 on it's own. What a cool opportunity.

FWIW - the meal was prix fixe then added the wine pairing and of course cocktails to start.

Total all in price was $350 as it turned out. $100 Uber there and back and $100 for babysitting. Well worth it to me.

The entree show stopper is currently the pomegranate lamb shoulder. Last time there it was a few different skewers. Both were excellent. I will say, I understand all the effort involved with the lamb shoulder. The texture and flavor were unreal. I still think lamb is a bit gamey.

You could actually have a personal chef for 2/3 of that.

    Major fail.

Ok $350 for a meal like that is acceptable. $750 just seemed way out there. You estimated $200 over. Still a bit pricey, but looks good.
