Birds sing there's not a cloud in the sky August 8th is a beautiful day
I see a bunch of hippies crying yeah August 8th is a beautiful day
Like waking up from a real bad dream suddenly everything is OK
The storm has passed the sun is shining yeah August 8th is a beautiful day
What's going on what's going on is something bumming your scene
There's something wrong there's something wrong I'm not trying to be mean
The air is sweet the summer flowers blooming nowhere in sight is there anything grey
Feelings of joy are filling the street yeah beautiful day
Like waking up from a fucked up dream suddenly everything's looking good
There's been no permanent damage done
Yeah August 8th came right when it should
    Poor Jeff
    Poor little
    Timmy Turtle
    Staying home on
    Such a beautiful
    Day

    favorite dead song

The start of the 5/8/77 Barton Hall concert, New Minglewood Blues. They came right out of the gate killing it. The recently issued Betty board remaster of this show is literally spine tingling.

Always tough to choose a number 1:

We all came up with top 10s once. Of course, the list went to 11:

    Terrapin
    Alligator
    New Speedway
    Eleven
    Other One
    US Blues
    SOTM
    Eyes
    Viola Lee Blues

    That’s the irony

In "Heavy Petting Zoo" there is a song called 8th August, what does it mean for you this day?

This is pretty funny. I wrote this song about Jerry Garcia dying, cuz I fucking hate the Grateful Dead, but it turns out I had the date wrong. He really dies on August 9th. Whoops. I guess I'm lame. -FAT MIKE
I don’t have a fave song but my favorite album is Mars Hotel

Looks Like Rain (the JG meltdown at the end moves me)

    Comes a Time (crushes me)

Unbroken Chain (the patience, the buildup, the changes at the end...)

Dark Star is pretty good if you're into that sort of thing

The Days Between (phantom ships with phantom sails , set to see on phantom tides)

also love the cowboy songs. A good thread would be GD songs you dont like
