    What about a wind tunnel?

I believe it's been established that a plane may or may not take off from a treadmill.

What if it was in a wind tunnel? Could it hover?

Yes. And why wouldn't the plane take off from a treadmill?

It can take off on ice.

But maybe because a treadmill large enough would be impractical, nobody would be interested in building it, etc

That question is way to easy to answer, so the real question would be, will a plane take off on a treadmill in a wind tunnel?

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

I once visited a wind tunnel with a treadmill set up for testing effects near the ground as the plane came in to land. A treadmill is the easiest way to simulate a moving (relative to the plane) runway in a controlled environment like that. The one I saw hovered but it was just a full scale landing gear assembly.

The rest of the plane probably took off without it

But what if the wind tunnel was on a treadmill?

Is the plane full or Solomon or G3 fanboys? Because that will drastically change the results.

All the hot air in the plane will give it additional lift. Maybe not even needing a wind tunnel at all.

It's all about the KTA: Knots True Airspeed.
If the airflow over the wing/lifting body is fast enough, the plane goes up.
That why they tie planes down when they park them outside. Especially the small ones. A stiff breeze would fuck up your dad's 172 if it was unsecured.

What color is the airplane? If it is red, it will go faster and take off sooner.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

If a helicopter is in a large closed box on a scale, would the scale read less or the same when the helicopter takes off?

The scale will read both values at the same time, until we open the box.

Less, but not by much. Some of the force would go into compressing the air, and not all of it would become ground force.

Can you imagine if the SR-71 was red? It would melt your face.

Wouldn't we have to sacrifice a cat though? I guess the answer is yes AND no
