    Socal 2018/2019

Okay it’s here who’s down? I’m thinking of tapping some of the local terrain. If you know where to go it looks like it will have a base after today. Can’t wait to ride the local terrain again. Message me if your down.Click image for larger version.

Here's hoping y'all have a decent season in the Peninsular and Transverse Ranges.

Could be fun here’s what I saw. Was close to the Christmas tree chute. Snow was glopping on skis it took it out of me.Click image for larger version.

Hard to be sure there's no coreshot risk with the little snow that's come plus warm weather.

Would love to get out in some of the LA mountains or in the Sierra if anyone's looking for a partner. I'm in hermosa and spend a decent amount of time up in Mammoth. Not a ton of BC under my belt but did Avy 1 and have done some stuff around Mammoth. Holla!

Hit Baldy on Sunday too - fun day! Managed to avoid any core shots, just a few scratches. Looking like we might get a bit more snow next week, fingers crossed.

Nice, I was wondering if anyone got out after the new snow. How much new was there? Just skiing on Thunder mtn I'm assuming? Crowds? Traffic issues?

Baldy seems to have taken the webcams off their webpage...I always used those for planning trips.

It was about 6-8 new on what felt like maybe just a couple inches of crunchy stuff underneath. Once it got a little skied out it didn't sound great, but still pretty passable (if you avoided the bushes / stumps / rocks). Service really only on Chair 3 (is that Thunder?). Didn't have any traffic, got there round 7:30, on the hill by 8. Only thing was a bunch of dunderheads putting chains on their Corollas in the middle of the road - unsure if they needed em or not, I was fine with 4WD. It was a solid day - started to feel a little thin toward 1 pm, but no crowds, no line, bluebird day.

Nope not me! I hadn't been out in 2 seasons and was testing out new set of sticks. I didn't see that dude!

OpenSnow showing a potential 30 inches for Baldy over the next 5 days...that you guys think will be the prime day to get after it? Do they even open during the week? I'm liking how the below looks...

My experience is that Baldy needs 3-4 feet of base before it becomes more than a novelty and at least 6 to get really good. My fingers are crossed that whatever materializes in the next few weeks will settle and, hold and stay frozen.

the snowpack in the baldy bowl seems to have been taken to zero by warming and rain ahead of the 1/12 storm except on east thru north aspects above 8500'. still some fun to be had, but we def need this next storm to deliver.
