"The league percolated ears in this latest round back in 2011..."

    say what now?

Congrats to Seattle. The league's already way too big, so I guess one more won't hurt anything.

Read "Scale" by Geoffrey West. Social costs grow super linearly.
Fuck the leagues; Seattle voted down the fucking stadiums twice, so the motherfuckers sleazed it through the state legislature.

    Toronto needs 2 teams now?

    Yep.

At least this Franchise didn't want to get given a city street...

My buddy that is a lobbyist was trying to get a second team just north of the city. He got paid well for the effort but he said the Leafs veto power will never let that happen.

Btw the Seattle Mooseknuckles would be a good name for the team..or the Huge Cameltoes

Seattle Prime would be more fitting.

btw, I think it's cool they got NHL. More NHL than Vegas for chrissakes . NBA needs to return and probably will in the somewhat near future.

Well that way they'd have an NHL team to go along with their AHL team.

Seattle GPO's or is that trademarked? Might have to go with the Seattle Baristas, or is that not macho enough? Maybe the Seattle Fog...

The Key Arena remodel is being privately financed by the team ownership group and went through Seattle City Council, not the state. Much better than a new tax financing it.

Have the Junior team change their name and take the Thunderbirds.

Expansion teams always end up with ghey names.

I thought there was a vote on the name already. I heard it was Totems. It wasn't mentioned in any articles so I hope I'm wrong. While I like Thunderbirds, I wouldn't want to steal it. I like Sockeyes.

Perhaps Vancouver can give up their mascot to Seattle, and properly take up their earned moniker the Cannots.

Speaking of which, I wonder if this will be net positive or negative to the van franchise revenue? Can’t see as many NHL fans going across the border unless the two home teams are playing each other.

News just gave a list of names - Rainiers, Sockeys and Kraken were all in there but Metropolitans is evidently in the running as it has historical significance re: Stanley Cup

Thats funny, cause I was just thinking "you know what the NHL needs? more teams!"

Oh and if NYC can support two teams, T.O. certainly could as well. Although I think Quebec deserves to get a team back..
