    Swamp Soccer.

Fun but absolutely brutal. No matter how fit you are, you're going to be wrecked after a match..

They do wear helmets nowadays; back in the 60's when I saw it on Wide World of Sports ("the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat") they didn't. Guy gets cold cocked--completely out, play continues, trainers run out, players are crashing into the unconscious guys and the trainers.
I have an invitation to play. I don't think I'm up to it though

Is that you? Nice form. Looks to be at least 16'. But I have to agree that Pole Vault really isn't an obscure sport. However, out of all of the track and field disciplines, it probably has the smallest pool of participants, and the pool of those that are good is VERY small (IMHO the bar for being rated as "good" around 16') .
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Really not that brutal--the games only last a minute or two--until they can't find the ball

    2x 12 minutes.

Lets have a go and check out your condition after the first 6 minutes in a competitive team.

Anyone remember the Warren Miller feature on the crazy who was doing parkour everywhere and calling it "soul skiing"?
It was a good 10 years ago, it may be Children of Winter or Off the Grid.
