18-19 Orygun, The Thread
Finally tagged newton clark headwall. Skied at 11 and had great corn down to the last 1k before it was sticky. we helped a dude up top who got a crampon stuck in his leg. Brutal puncture!
It’s melting fast - the runnels on Wyeast and NC are manageable now but getting bigger. Lines in the Basalt Cliffs above azone are completely melted out that were skiable last year at the end of May. Huge suncups on the upper section of Wyeast, and rotten snow along the traverse to NC. Hopefully this weather system next week brings something good up high.

What was your ascent/descent time like? You go up the west face? Anything too technical that would warrant anything beyond cramps and an axe?
Not sure if I'll get to it this eason, but Jefferson is on the list. Awe at that thing everyday on the way to work.
If anyone has a desire to summit shasta, cascades mountaineers are doing a summit last weekend in May. Might be hopping on. So far the group is small.

Went to pamelia lake, then entrust pct, a few likes, then roughly between sw and s ridge. West face would be better, up and down. First day, with tent, overnight gear, 7 hours, including a fair amount of route finding in the trees and shitty skinning.
Second day, total 12 hours, leisurely pace.
Nothing technical.

I ‘d say a combination of all three except the snowfield /glacier is not exactly stationary. Just me and snow and ice. I was out near Zigzag. Skied back to my car in the lower lot and I was glad I had a spot by the snow because walking was way shittier than skiing . Been on crutches since I got home.

Thanks for the kind words. Just found out they need to bolt it back together. I’ll post more pics when I get them.

What up Orygun...
Planning on making the drive from Seattle on Sunday to ski Timberline was wondering if any mags wanted to hook up and make laps. Forecast looks a little iffy but like it should be snowing on Palmer.

How are conditions at Bachelor? I'm going to be there for the holiday weekend.

At the moment they suck Mr. Clark. I'll be checking conditions Friday and comment then. Looks wet for a few days out but highs on the hill in the 30s. Ya just never know it could snow.
