Was supposed to meet my buddy at his familys house in Anchorage next week to hang out and check out Alyeska for a day or two, but after the earthquake his family has no water or septic so we called an audible to meet halfway between us at Mt Hood. Never skied anywhere but Tline in the summer so any info or tips are appreciated.
The biggest issue with Heather is the runout. Depending on how much snow there is on the runout to make snow bridges. Last years problem was decent coverage above 5,000-5,500', well below average below that. If memory serves me correct, Heather open around the first of Feb. 5'-6' of base at the lodge is when it usually opens

Sweet shot. It’s almost too bad he’s holding that edge so well-. A massive rooster tail would be sick!

Has to have enough of a snow bridge to support a cat to get back in there before they open it. 33% of avg snowpack, not happening anytime soon.

Good seeing you today J. Happy to be a human gate for you. The snowplanks crew could lay down some ruts. Thought the guy with the selfi-stick was gonna skewer my nuts on his pass though.

Jonesy those guys have you beat in the 180-to-uphill maneuver

Uphill carving is over rated. But yeah I've seen those guys damanging the groom with blatant

Though I can see the management wanting to avoid the problems of midway loading, I miss the old midway loading station. However I must admit... the last time I used it I caught a raft of shit from the ski patrol. Oh well.

At least they didn't put the new Ed Chair right next to Face, that would have ruined my favorite runs. Face would have gone from being great angle of repose powder run, to being just another steep, under the lift, bump run. Every time I ski that run I am thankful. So I guess that works out.

Willamette Pass opened today as well. Well half open. In other news. If you want to start the "other sport" keep your eye out for misc gear on the hill. I got it one piece at a time and it didn't cost me a dime. Will hook up Tap.

Great day to be outside. Legs tired, now time for some upper body work and 20 oz curls.
