Interesting morning! Mhx was the only lift spinning, mid-Atlantic style bulletproof on the groom. Crazy winds with off and on snow. Beers with Detuned at the base after 2 laps was the best call of the day.
Give it a bit to soften up if you’re planning on skiing tomorrow, but it’s gonna be really good...

Took all the kids to Timberline today. Didn't spot check the weather at all during the week. It was a bone chilling sort of humid cold today, but not soak-through-your-clothes wet. The snow was coming down pretty much non stop. Off piste was treacherous refrozen slush brutality, but the groom was actually pretty nice. We were there for the Palmer opening but, with the wind and vis, that didn't happen. They put the Magic Mile chairs away, unridden, about halfway through the day. Pretty good day, though, for what it was. Fun was had.

What a difference a day makes. Friday I was up at Timberline and although it was a little windy the sun was out and everyone was getting in the summer spirit. I put on shorts and walked the dog when I got home.
Saturday I got reminded about wind chill. I didn't wear my winter base layers and it was winter weather with mid- 20s temps and whipping wind and snow. Wind chill to the bone.
Sunday back up on Palmer and cooked snow at the bottom for the last day of Jeff Flood.
Today I'm back in the office working and high winds closed the upper mountain. Just heard from a friend that's been riding Normans all day.
Tomorrows forecast calls for calm <10mph winds. I guess we will find out tomorrow. (:

Yeah you don't want to go down on it. Asphalt is softer.

had a great weekend getaway at mt hood to get some turns in at meadows, met up with thefortrees sat/sun and got a couple laps in with acinpdx and ac jr. on sunday along with my non-mag buddy - all solid folks.
as stated saturday was gnar bulletproof - a meal of ninkasi brews and great conversation with thefortrees while watching the rail jam was the most enjoyable activity on the mountain that day
friday and sunday provided some really nice spring turns. marmot ridge skied as best it could save for fresh pow on friday while sunday gave up some real nice afternoon sugary lines off cascade - many smiles were had
keep in touch ya'll - we'll definitely get something sorted out next season on that pass exchange to share some great turns again!

Fun skiing and drinking with ya detuned. Sounds like there’s gonna be a Meadows contingent blowing up Whitefish next season...
Got out to PG ridge today to farm some corn. Did not disappoint, even with a late 12pm start. Skinned from HRM lot, creek crossings are still good to go.
I was shocked - skied down close to Potato Patch into the Heather runout at 330pm and it didn’t get sticky until the last couple hundred yards to the lot.
Fkna, another awesome spring skiing day in the books. Time for beer, grilling and sunny 70 degree temps on the porch.

So dank today. Just got better and better. Wish they could have kept turning lifts.

Thinking of skiing Mt Jefferson from pavlonia lake next week, but it's supposed to be cold.
It's West exposure. Do you think it's winter snow or frozen stuff?
Same question for mounting Hood, summiting.
Thank you

Bachelor was all time perfect corn groomers, even from the summit. Best groomer skiing I've done in years. But as an LCC local I'm not used to good groomers. If they would've stayed open later I'm sure some off trail would have softened up. All and all a good day. Haven't skied in Oregon in years despite it being my home. Good to get back.

Hood is pretty frozen up high right now. Temps have been tricky the past couple weeks. I Tried to summit and ski from the S side last Wednesday, bailed around 10k because it wasn’t close to thawing out even around 1230. I care more about skiing than climbing, so I bail if the summit ski is no good. You could always stash your skis and boot up/down if you want to summit.
Had a friend up on Palmer yesterday - he said at 8500 ft and at 130pm, it was firm for the first thousand feet or so before the skiing was decent.
I skied on the E side, NE aspect at 6500 ft and around 130pm - it was perfect snow.
