The Plakemaster came to WV again last year even though the conditions were not all that great. I missed him, again, but many friends got to see and meet him again.

Its a much bigger rig than the first time he came through. So glad to see him out there. My Hero.

The best thing about Plake isn't his (still pretty awesome) skiing, but his infectious positive attitude. Always smiling, laughing, encouraging others, while still being humble and grateful for his successes. Rock on Glen. You've earned it.

My buddies skied with him last tour in WA. That's awesome what he's bringing to the sport.

I understand why hes not on a set timeframe but would be nice to see where he has been (to guess where he might be going)

would love to shred a "tiny area that rocks" with him

Haven't skied any tiny area's with Plake (unless you count Le Tour separate from Cham) but among other adventures I have skied the Blanc with the Plakes

    Saw him yesterday at Mammoth.

Spent a day with all us race groms in 1992 on the original down home tour at Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin.
Him and his wife are the ultimate ski ambassadors.
Skied with him for a few runs 6 years later at Mammoth and he couldn't be more chill or welcoming.
Hopefully he'll swing by the Midwest so I can bring the kiddo to meet him.

There is something about Woodsy living in Connecticut that makes me laugh. Maybe it is that Woodsy just makes be laugh.

I owe just about all my stoke for skiing to Plake. After burning out on ski racing, chasing puss and parting for a year, saw a showing of Blizzard at UVM. I went out a bought a pass to Smugs, followed by working there, took the spring semester off and haven't looked back.

maggs, mangs, and,,, Plakes themselves --

My Thanks to Glen and Kimberly Plake - for sticking-around --

I Agree with the appraisal as Ultimate Ambassadors - And Thank You ! !!

    … There was a brief thread a couple years ago. . .
I absolutely Respect Plake's passion for skiing And ski history --
No one else of my age has had his longevity and his (Stoke) ! !!

I am almost reluctant to say (it) , but If he sticks around another thirty years(,) his career will be comparable only to Stein in North America
    ( I am aware Europe has it's legends ) ( seems to me like J-C transcended Skiing... J-CKilly ) .

    ( Maybe - But different(ly) - Pepi, too ( but Pepi's legend is not as broad )

so. My Thanks to the Plakes : You are great Ambassadors ! !! Thank you ! tj

Totally agree and I spent a lot of my life @ DV & Aspen Highlands where Stein had a ton of impact.

Would put Warren Miller in this group.

Never met the man but my little bro did, at sunday river. his girlfriend slid off white heat and clocked a snowmaking pipe and gashed her head open, bloody mess.

Plake was on the scene before ski patrol and my brother was starting freak out a bit, he said. Once she was on a sled he realized it was Plake minus the mohawk. He's not a hard core skier like big bro but said "you're the guy with the mohawk, right ? my brother has your poster on the wall." pretty funny.

Plake is the man. I've heard stories of him in south lake tahoe, jet skis and dirt bikes, hanging with Palm, etc. My cousin knew him. World class human, plake is.

I wasn't thinking in Warren Miller terms and I Agree --

    Good thought : Thanks... tj

( I was thinking of people who for decades ... - you don't have to be a skier, because Stein (in his time) and Plake ( still ) - are known. !

I think WarrenMiller could mingle. But for Who he is in Skiing - He belongs. )
