Skiing the Wipeouts at 8, no wonder these kids are so damn good by time they are 20. I started way to late in life to ever be really good.

Any secrets for a cheaper family lunch on the mountain? Family is gonna want hot food and I usually need a beer, but otherwise anything is good.

Cheaper will always involve BYOF to a great extent.

That's sort of what I expected. Thanks. Occasionally there are some gems, though. I just don't know Mammoth well enough.

Once Canyon opens, leave skis there and ride the gondi down to the village for cheaper/better options then on the hill.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Safety bars on 23? My kid will be stoked. He likes skiing off the top, and riding chair 23 (top station is so cool), but he was always sketched riding that lift in May with mostly exposed rocks under him. Now he can chill and hold on to that bar.

    Mammy is looking good.

Cheapest is renting a locker in Main or Canyon and stashing food/drink.
    It can be done cheaply.

Cheaper still is leaving it in your car. The locker prices are ridiculous.

Though I have to admit I haven't used lockers in years sine they jacked the prices so high. Maybe Mammoth saw the error of their ways and reduced the price to that mere mortals can afford.

Depending on your culinary proclivities I'd recommend throwing in a pack

    - 1 cured salami. Or other meat of choice
-1-2 cheeses. Gruyere is good for this
-sleeve of crackers. Highly advise putting in a tin..a 2nd graders lunch tin will suffice
    -1 swiss army knife
-1 large can of wine. Laugh but there are some very good cans of wine out there these days
-a few grapes for the appearance of health

Voila! A lovely, mobile, family meal at mid mountain..have fun.

Mammoth on Thursday morning was very, very good.

    Also, try the skibum special:

Bagel sandwich with cream cheese, a slice of blueberry pie, and peanut butter.

Run right below High Five chair was incredible today. A constant wind was buffing the shit out of the snow. Full on winter conditions preserved!

I skied mostly dropout 1 yesterday, and it was fun. Firm but edgable, with some nice pockets. I skied Dave's almost exclusively today and it was a blast, classic Mammoth windbuff.

Nice! Impressive billy-goating through some of those tight sections.
