Canyon and Eagle Lodges are estimated to open 12/12 weather permitting.

Any ideas when the village gondola is opening? I'd assume about the same date?

Liv2ski posted a few ski shops earlier in the thread. Are these recommended places to demo? Any good deals on demos? I just pulled the trigger for a condo in a couple weeks from now, but my new skis probably wont be here yet.

btw if anyone wants to get out in the next couple days i'll be at mammoth dressed similarly to hutchski above, but with darker pants and a penis. I'm not super familiar with what to do when the top is closed.

i'll also be doing super mellow tours with the dogs to pass the time. don't they look like angels (hint-they're not)

Rob D, it isn't a deal, but renting directly from the shops in Canyon or Main lodges will allow you to easily change out demos during the day, which can be kind of fun and let you try many different skis.
When are you going to be up at Mammoth? If your bsl is close to 315 I could possibly lend you some skis if needed.

In case your memory sucks like mine and you have a Base Ikon pass, the black out dates are:

    Blackout Dates:
    **Northern Hemisphere: Dec 26 - 31, 2018; Jan 19 - 20, 2019; Feb 16 - 17, 2019

Just keep pouring them red wine and they will stay mellow like that.

Lots of options when the top is closed, but it depends on why its closed. If for avi control options are limited to lower mountain, but there is lots of stuff in the various tree pockets around the mountain. There are great steep shots off Wall street (skiers right.) Look for the Bear, Rogers and Drop 18 areas if enough snow. If the top is closed, but back side of three is open traversing out under Drop Out/Wipe Out chutes is good. With some work involved depending on which lifts are running, but heading off three towards five, or off five towards nine can yield good turns, but often out of bounds and uncontrolled.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Thanks, but I just bought new Moments and I'd hate to demo something i like better! They're supposed to ship in early Dec and we are going the weekend of the 8th, so i don't think I'll get them in time. Thus, I'm looking for cheaper options for reasonable skis so my wife doesn't divorce me.
I really appreciate your offer Liv2ski, but I'd hate to impose. I'm a bsl 308, so might work, but let me see if I can find a cheap option that doesn't put you out. Thanks!
And enjoy the dump this week! I kinda wish I was heading up now.

It's a Friday and cars are parked past chair four. Welcome to Mammoth, post IKON pass. Oh well, skiing in the storm all day yesterday was fun. What do you think the weekend will be like? Mega crowd.
