    Great discount, thanks.

I've been meaning to ask this before pulling the trigger, what does the hybrid part mean in 'Hybrid Softshell'? It would help do know how the hybrid softshells compare to cloudveil insulated softshells from many, many years ago and as we all know no longer available?

I don't mean to hijack your thread, if you want to answer in another thread just say so!

Edit to add: I read your Jacket Comparison page. This description (for an Antero II) "a hybrid softshell technical jacket with waterproof windproof breathable membrane, has slight stretch," is where I'm not sure. I think the cv insulated softshells did not have an inner membrane only insulation and DWR on an outer layer.

thanks everybody! FRS is going to assume that everyone has ordered their size correct. Normally we would follow up every sale with sizing confirmation email. But I have handled some personally through pm and with our measurements posted on here and the knowledge to go a tagged size smaller (in most cases) we are going to assume everyone has the right size. If you are in question at all, pm me direct or send email to help@freeridesystems.com

or even better, ask mags right here who have jackets.....

we say hybrid because most softshells people seem to be familiar with from other brands are either really thin fabrics that stretch alot, or thick fabrics that are like rubber suits in relation to breathability and usually have tons of 4 way stretch.

    hybrid to us means,

3 layers or 3 ply laminate fabric
    thicker than hardshell
noticeable stretch but not huge and in the 2x4 format vs 4x4
it is very breathable membrane sandwhiched between the front face (greige) and the inside (micro grid poyester fleece)
these are not separate flapping layers. This is a tight all adhered together (3 layers) that end up making a single fabric
then we fully seam tape the jacket.

so these qualities make it much different than other softshells

now add our over the helmet true hoods, ykk zips you can operate with gloved hands, arcteryx style collar hood system (allow to raise and lower hood without unzipping jacket when zipped up) no elastic in cuffs so you can blow air up the sleeve into the pit (where heat gets trapped ), and of course pit zips you can operate one handed with glove on!!!!!, collar that cinches to make it gather closer to face, and more things and you have our freeride systems Antero 2 jacket Hybrid Softshell (our hardshell (Antero 2+) has exact same features but a little harder to always get hood over helmet without unzipping due to very little stretch in hardshell)

however, with regard to very old scholler softshell cloudveil, it feels very much the same. I am not sure what membrane if any was in scholler, but i know they were not seam taped because I own an old pair of the pants in the olive green. I seam taped mine (mostly in the butt) and never noticed any water penetrating. They made a jacket too to match the pants. This might have all been under the RPK style name( not totally sure about that) ....but our jackets are like those , but on steroids due to the seam tape and water proof ness, and breathability factor.

FS: Freeride Systems Black Friday Sale 40% off everything !

FWIW I measured a Patagonia size L jacket I like the fit of and the Antero Medium measurements were very similar. Confident the M will fit similar if not a tad roomier which will be fine.

    Me too.

Can anyone comment on size small vs small tall? I'm assuming small (in general) is comparative to most mediums.
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.
