Best construction for Praxis protest 4 japan ?

My enduro veneer 3 flex 192s only weighed 2175g a piece, so adding carbon in the 187 length should get it right down to about 9 lbs on the dot (2055g)

I have MAP 3 with veneer. Great flex for pow and decently light. Very happy with mine.
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

No prob, glad I could point you in the right direction They do look fantastic.

If you find that the custom route is the way to go later, then you will have a much better starting off point having used them

Can't wait to see some action shots

Stock build on those is dialed map or maa core with veneer and a 3 or 4 flex depending on your weight and what you want to do with them. Mount them in the right place and they’ll never dive. I keep thinking of a fat wootest. That would make the 179 a 180 and 123 underfoot. Miss my protest big time

I went 196 cm, 4 flex, veneer, and carbon. They feel stiff. I’m really hoping they aren’t too stiff, they have some pop to them. We will see next week.

You should try some Spatulas. I think you'd really like them.

Thx. Being the over thinker I am, I’m wondering if this is all I need for japan. I took these up to Loveland yesterday and they’re not so minty anymore , found some hidden rocks in OTR. On the positive side, they ski great In pow and take a beating with minimal damage. Would you bring a Dps138 for good measure or a 4frnt hoji ? Too many skis = too many decisions. Or perhaps i should try a spatula?

    Ouch! First ones always hurt.
That said, they're Praxis and likely to hold up for a good long time.

I've taken other skis to Japan, but never skied anything narrower. A couple of days on Powderboards, otherwise only Protests.

If we go in Powder season, I'd probably bring Protests - and MVPs for backup only. If going in April for corn, I'd probably bring MVPs - and Protests in case it snows :-)

The second ski for Japan is my current debate. Protests are definitely going, but do I take Scouts, QST 99s, Super Freerides, or something else?

Im going to hokkaido on the 29th. Im 90% bringing the protest, do I bring a hoji or a DPS138 as a 2nd pair? Hoji is quiver killed for dynafits and Fks, 138 currently has a duke on it but its going to get replaced with the Shift and quiver killers to swap out with the protest. Stupid bloated quiver holder problems.

Im leaning that way too, but taking 138s to japan would not suck unless the snow does. What do you freaks recommend for protest skins?

protest + l138 is just too much overlap.

I'm using g3 new all nylon on my protests. unimpressed with waterproofing of plush as i had to wax on day 1. otherwise fine and good glide for a nylon now that they're waxed. probably going to get a full mohair for cold days to complement. scala tip is nice for trail breaking.
