Can 130 flex hybrid boots drive GS race skis?

Are any of the so called 130+ flex hybrid boots strong enough to drive a GS race ski like a Rossi Hero? Thinking of Rossi Alltrack Elite LT, Lange XT Promodel, Nordica Strider, etc.

    What’s the radius? That matters.

I thought only Apex boots were certified to drive GS race skis?

    This.

FIS races skis need Apex boots.

Serious answer now.. Might need a lot more lift to avoid booting out a fatter boot over a 60-70 something waist ski fully engaged. And, if you're competing there are limits to stack height/lift well below what you'd need for a fat boot like that..

Yeah, but the Apex plugs are a 170 flex.

It isn't the arrow, it's the Indian (or Indigenous Person if we're being PC).

Based on running a bunch of beer league GS and the occasional U16/19 training course, I'd say that the green boots will drive red skis.
My red skis happen to be a 23m, 186cm Atomic; not a FIS ski, but when I tried skiing a real, 35m ski, I didn't feel like the boots were the limiting factor with me driving them.

you could always rattle can them red and then there would be no problem unless you are on the continent then finger polish red is the best solution

It’s just an Apex inside another Apex.

For my hybrid/race boot setup I take the flex of the boot, divide by the BSL then multiply by the radius of the GS ski. This should give you a DIN equivalent that you reverse plug into the skier chart. If you are in range, you should be good to go. Anything yielding a number over 12 requires 5mg of CBD for every buckle on the right boot. John Egan taught be this four years ago one rainy afternoon on a stalled out Slidebrook Express.

The boot doesn’t really matter. I’ve seen people with 90 flex race boots on gs skis doing a lot better than buddy in 150 plug boots. Skiing well on FIS GS/SG skis is very much technique based. I can’t speak for the hybrid GS skis but I’d imagine they’re pretty similar but probably a little more forgiving.

But at the end of the day it definitely helps if they’re red.

I think it is not as much about forward flex as it is about lateral flex.

Perhaps the OP could have provided us with even less info.

Rossignol makes dozens of skis called "heros". From little 130cm Combi skis to full on 193/30 FIS skis.

As long as your boots are red, you should be OK. There is science behind this. Red has the highest wavelength in the visible light spectrum, somewhere around 650nm I believe. Slower oscillation (vibration) means the material in the boot is not as busy when compared to faster oscillation (more vibration), and the boot can more easily absorb vibrations or impact to the ski/boot interface. Oh, and just stay out of the back seat.

If the boot fits the needs of the skier and the skier fits the needs of the ski there shouldn’t be a problem.

Plenty of folks on the WC skiing softer boots than many on here bitching about how their 130s aren’t a true 130.
