Things To Do In San Fran With 11 Y.O. Kiddo?
Lived there in the late 80's/early 90's, so I know the basics...but we are thinking one night in the city on a two week mt. Bike road trip, any great suggestions? He's not really into kiddie stuff anymore.
He's a foodie (but we are on a budget).
Thoughts, good people?Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

Take the tour to Alcatraz. Walk out half way on the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the drive up to the top of Mt Tam. Oh, and Coit Tower, and that squiggly road. Oh, and take a trolley ride somewhere.

This is actually a decent tour, of different parks and other super-scenic parts of SF: https://www.sftodo.com/sanfrancisco/...49-mile-drive/
Plenty of places to get out of the car and break up the drive. It would be hard NOT to get out of the car actually on it, a lot of cool places are packed into it especially on the north part of it. Easily can also get a burrito on Mission street (there's more than one 'best ever' burrito places on it, I went to La Taqueria and it was insanely good), take a cable car, see Coit Tower, go to a museum in GG Park, etc. Also a good route to avoid most sketch-bums taking dumps on scooters while on heroin.
I'd skip some of the route though, like Sunset Blvd and Great highway part and just track north out of GG park. And why does it miss Lombard street???
If it's super smokey or shitty out, I'd recommend the Exploratorium as it's super cool hands-on for kids your sons age, although I've never been to the California Academy of Sciences. Went to some artsy-fartsy museum nearby instead, was worth it! As was MOMA and a bunch of others, but I doubt yer kid cares about that shit.

W- we took the kids here last year. Had a blast. I enjoyed it as much as my kids. Tons of cool shit to mess with.

You could take him over to Phil’s joint too. Check out the calendar. They often have outdoor shows that are early.
