1. Dave Eggers. Nothing wrong with being a middlebrow, predictable author, but he acts like he’s something more than that.

2. Zach Braff. I associate him with TV shows that end up with him narrating some insightful dreck like ‘and when you stop trying to not be your father, that’s when you become yourself’ or shit like that.

3. Kanye West. My musical tastes are vastly wide-ranging and flexible, but his shit is meh. Kendrick and Gambino bring more intelligence and less self-regard.

You all are just listing people who have had some success, but are also widely considered to suck. Dane Cook, for example, has certainly made some money telling "jokes," but if I asked a dozen people who their least favorite comedian is, I wouldn't be surprised if more than half said Dane Cook.

To be overrated you need to be held in high esteem. Meryl Streep, for example, is overrated. Sure, she is a skilled actress, but she just isn't very interesting. She's made some good films, but I'd argue that in her 40 year career she's never been in a great one.

And Charles Dickens is overrated. Maybe that shit was funny 150 years ago. Now people just pretend it's funny because they think their supposed to. Shakespeare is still funny. Mark Twain is still funny. Dickens is like musical theatre funny. Move the joke to a different context and everyone just rolls their eyes.
