    Aspen/Snowmass 18-19 Season Thread.

Well, Snowmass isn't open yet and pretty skied out @ my usual preseason haunts... and because of an injury, I avoided the exploration and just got a few great turns in.

Looks like Highlands and Aspen are skiing great, we'll see what Saturday brings at Aspen.

Oh, and a great little sleeper storm last night.

I hope to get to make turns with Aspen maggots this year when I road trip in January.

Looks sweet. Got it on my list of places to hit this season if the conditions are right.

New thread, nice. Seems like we are about two months ahead of last season in terms of coverage which is pretty sweet!

I've been able to sneak in quick skins on Ajax 3 of the last 4 days. Groomers are dialing it in each time; nice cord most of the way down tonight. New planks mounted at Hamilton, great views of the Bowl each morning and the stoke is high!

No resort skiing for me for the next two weeks. Scored some cheap tickets to Paris+Mallorca for Thanksgiving week and then back to winter.

I’m out early everyday. Green OR jacket with matching boots and Kastles.

We walked up right after they started loading. First 3-4 runs were awesome. Then a bit crowded but things softened up nicely.

    Aspen/Snowmass 18-19 Season Thread.

Today was much less congested and the surface held up much later.
Tomorrow they open Copper and the Couch.

Long time ski tech, Grant Siple, had his leg amputated today, due to complications from breaking both legs a couple of years back.

He’s a super good guy that could use some love.

This little one is making me proud! She loves to ski... she’s not quite ready for the T 2 B, but maybe by spring.

First day on Ajax is a big deal!

Once Bonnie's opens you just need to get her in there for an oatmeal pancake to complete the Ajax Junkie indoctrination process.

Looks like a stellar weekend. I'm psyched to get out this week with more terrain.

Props to GR for raising 'em right!

Very good skiing especially when you look at the calendar. All of the rope drop carnage on Ajax yesterday was comical.

I saw some video of the Walsh's Rope Drop.. looked like a total cluster.

Did they open up that whole part of the ridge?

They had back of bell open all the way down to Keith Glen but the trees in between the main shots were still roped off. Only the bottom half or so of ridge was open and you had to traverse in from Copper (also I think that area was open at least one day prior to yesterday maybe more). Some nice turns in there but still very thin. I wasn't there for Walsh's but I think that was all that opened in that zone (no Kristi or Hyrup's to my knowledge but I could definitely be wrong).

Lots of weak skiers/snowboarders were in the mix and having a really hard time since it was upside down snow with a storm slab on top of facets, plus there was plenty of stuff to hit underneath so yeah... total cluster. It's all nice and packed down now though, and ready for the next storm.

Top of Hyrups was good @ 1:30 today, but the bottom was challenging.
    Kristi’s was still closed.

I got the rundown yesterday from friend who were bragging about "hitting" all the rope drops, but also admitting to blowing up, losing skis, massive core shots, and dodging everyone else doing the same. yikes.

Snowmass was pretty good this morning. All of the Knob is open.
The tops good, bottom a little brushy and the trees between, boney.
