    WTF Flickr? :(

Not on the same level as Photobucket's extortion attempt but still disappointing.

Free accounts will soon be limited to 1,000 photos or videos. Flickr isn’t Flickr without the contributions and participation of our free members, and we remain committed to a vibrant free offering.

If you are a free member with more than 1,000 photos or videos, you will have ample time to upgrade to Pro (for 30% off your first year) or download your photos and videos.* Read more about this decision.
The "Free" account was capped at 1TB. Now it is going to be 1000 photos. I have 1,572 photos uploaded there. Although I have no idea how much space they take up, I'm sure that it is less than 1TB.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Yeah, I almost started this thread a couple days ago. Disappointed for sure.

I have like 2500 images on Flickr.... lots of them linked here in TRs and regional threads.

Can't let all that slide... guess I'll pay.

Yeah, it's pretty shitty. No way it costs them $50/year to host those images. I'd happily pay $10-15/year, but for $50 I may just start self-hosting photos.

Over 2k here, and it was kind of my cloud photo storage as well so have to figure out plan B if there is one other than paying up. Agree on $10-20 a year but not $50.

first time hearing this, bummer for sure.

I have 11K photos on my computer, granted not all RAW files, but that equates to roughly 300GB...

$50 a year is ridiculous, who's starting up the next photo sharing site?
