Skiers right coming down the face . Not far enough right to be under the chair. Just did a quick skin up at 930 to 1030 on the front after picking up my pass. It wasn't a lift cable though it was braided and half inch thick. and was looped up vertically about knee high and complete covered. My ski went right through it. Luckily it was the maiden voyage of the Shifts so I released right out. Normally I lock my tech toe bindings when skiing down and that could have been a possible season ender. Was hoping to see someone I knew and I was afraid to go anywhere near Alpental with the ivy conditions. Stoked to get the low hanging fruit though.

Took Bandit Jr up to the snowy dead end of opener. Was near bluebird when we pulled up and Shuksan made a brief appearance before the clouds and snow came back. Chairs 1, 2, 3/4, and 6 were running.
Deep goodness the first two runs up high followed by the worst not quite groomed runs back to the chair. Hidden rollers, obstacles, saplings everywhere. Dropped the rope on Pan Face about 11 am and it was back to the white room. Baker still needs lots of snow to make the fun lines doable, but boy was it good to ski powder again!

@Wickstad
Ya, i'm sure it'll be a shitshow, hence my ambivalence towards actually giving a fuck on the matter. I'm working that morning, so really no skin off my back anyhow.
It's just the principle. Folks are chomping at the bit, and ski area employees who actually ski are probably the ones chomping the hardest. Working for the industry is generally a crap gig. Pretty much the only benefit a real ski bum gives a fuck about is that unlimited ski pass.
And what about the employees who can only ski weekends?
And what's gonna happen next year? A full week or two of restricted access?
Six weeks restricted the year after that?Do what you like. Try not to arbitrarily be an ass. -- skizix

Dude. I’m with you. I think that is shittier than an overturned sani can. I fled Stevens long ago. Back when they first started charging for the “a-lot”. About 1997. Shit show back then and now we’re like what twenty years on? There is good skiing there. But you can’t run a ski area without employees right?

Anyone hit Steven's today? How was it?
I have to drive to Monroe in the AM regardless so I'm tempted to just keep going and get some lunchtime turns.

I got up for the afternoon, and had a great time. Still mostly soft, and wind was tucking it back into a few spots for the curious. Didn’t realize stand in line either. Totally worth the drive from Bavaria.

Crustal meadowskip.
Gondy and Green Valley liftlines were huDge. Once dissipated, lots of soft cut up was to be had in GV as well as Lucky Shot. Todays snow will sweeten the coverage.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

Point forecast called for an inch last night, the winter storm warning said 6", I'm about to suit up and go manage 10" of the heaviest snow on Earth before it gets any heavier. Tomorrow's opener @ the golf course might not be as bad as I'm expecting it to be...
