Solid 6" of new and very heavy snow at my house today. No changeover to rain that I've seen although the temp has been slightly above freezing all day.

I thought it was pretty awesome. Would love to be a fly on the wall of the lodge at Ski Sitzmark.

I'll be there, probably not first chair.

Don't assume the individual is an adult. He's been skiing the PNW since he's 3. For all we know, the kid is just 5 or 6 years old.

I've taken many a week day pow day off and stopped being surprised by how many people work their schedules around a pow day that gets up there in the double digits.

Lot of work from home types, and folks that work evening shifts or are independent contractors, etc. They will all be up skiing somewhere between Mt. Baker and Mt. Bachelor. Oh, there are a ton of retired people that will be up skiing the powder, and snaking your line. So, be prepared for Grandpa and Grandma to be shredding it.

Solid secondhand raves about Mt. Dweebus from things #1 & 2, and other reliable sources who rode there today.

While you all were ripping the blower I got away from work for an hour and rode at NW Seattle's premier back country ski resort: Ski Llandover Woods. The place seems to specialize in East Coast style trail skiing. It sports a massive 250 vert and has the bonus of Diva Espresso and an A1 bottle shop a couple of blocks away from the top.

Looking back up at the bottom of the main run. I am thankful Salmon Berries don't have thorns.

Some of the expert terrain. Needs another 8-10" to cover the ferns and logs.

Some turns down the stairs run. I didn't attempt the expert pillow lines in the background.

It snowed all night on Union Hill, another 10 inches and now it's starting to rain.
I had to run the girl down to her parents fam to help with the feeding and got high centered in a plow berm.
Fortunately someone stopped with a tow strap and pulled us out.

Then on the way back, a neighbor was stuck in the same berm, so I dug her out and managed to get back in our drive as the snow is setting up.

Roads up here are nuts, lots of arterials unplowed and the snow is turning to cement. If this freezes, we're fucked.

With temps set to go below freezing every night, it's only going to get worse. We had rain last night, then another 3", then back to rain. The slop out there is gross.

    SNOW IN THE PNW 2018-19

The flipside of this was I took Mrs. Plug into work this morning and it was just about the easiest commute I’ve ever had. 70 MPH both ways, no city traffic. Like 5:00 AM on a Sunday.

I have had this easy commute since a week ago Monday, or at least the days when I remember to go to work instead of skiing.

Got my driveway shoveled out again and the snow is slowly melting. I'm just hoping this is the beginning of the end for lowland snow.

Alternating rain and snow on Union Hill makes the existing snowpack less navigable. We have 1/3 of a mile of unmaintained dirt road to get out to where it's plowed.

Today was like shoveling clam chowder.

Rain here all last night. It just switched back to snow.

I'm stuck now; this morning the snow was light enough to blast through, but with the rain/snow mixes, the snow is turning to concrete and the old faithful audi is high centered.
I came back to take the family skiing. Merdre (please see Alfred Jarry)
