I can't find the picture of the fracture on Three Way that had to be 8 feet thick.

The slab wrapped over the ridge, and sucked the opposite side uphill when it broke. Imagine being dragged uphill and over the edge.

    Bear Pits 6 foot fracture:

Crustal is a little odd in that it's not really western slope of the Cascades, but those and even the CB slide that destroyed 6 and the Employee Housing slides had pwls.

Toured the high 12 today, still quite thin. Hoar frost was shredded, grass was mowed, and rocks were rolled. Glad they had the wrod in place for the last 300 ft of down.

Heading up to Stevens to schmear around on some mellow terrain and stretch the legs a bit. Probably just to do some meadow skipping in the vicinity of Skyline because I'm solo and coverage blows.

Yellow helmet, wood veneer topsheet Praxis, if anyone feels like saying hello.

you have to approach them quietly, they're skittish when they see multiple sticks and hold on to their nugs for comfort

This week is looking promising. Already off to a strong start, picked up 3" overnight at my house on the Eastern Slope.

I'll bet all Cascade Hills open by Wednesday, except for the padded seats.

    Don't remind them.

Luckily plenty of other places to get some before they spin.

Meh, we knew the deal when we bought the pass. Always the last to open, always the last to close. Usually has the best day of my year, always has the most character building snow conditions of my year.

Im headed down to hood later this week into the weekend. Then by next weekend ill be in tahoe for family Xmas, and then onto SLC for girlfriends family xmas. Won't be back home in the PNW till the 29th, by which time i would bet the padded seats are loading and i can get that warm fuzzy feeling again as i glide above The Fan.

4" in the last 24 in Hyak, 8" @ pass level and I'm hearing good things from the land of the padded seats. This should make a great appetizer for Tues. main course, I'm just hoping Thurs. will feature some easterly flow

Even lower elevations are going to receive biblical snowfall.

I plan on skiing Baker Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Any PNW mags want to meet up?

Call me the eternal pessimist where the snow stake is never quite half way, but 3" doesn't sound like a "strong" start. I'm hoping for a lot more, like 10x more. I shall be somewhere most likely in the state of WA this up coming weekend. Hopefully Ullr stops and chills out for a week in whatever place I'm at...

3" overnight at 3000' on a south facing slope in the desert with 7-8" on the ground is a strong start for my house.

Be careful what you wish for. In past years it was easy enough to avoid the shit show by leaving a little earlier. If they actually implement chain checks, prepare for horrendous traffic backups similar to what you see on I-80 in CA during a storm (and it doesnt end up being much safer). When every, single, car has to stop and have a 5 sec convo with a WSDOT/HP person the ensuing backup gets miles long.

If not chain check points, how else would they enforce it?
