Don't bother trying to ski Rainier now until after first fall storms. Hike or bike until then.
How was this season? Seemed like it had a late start in dec and was ok until late Feb. I'm sad I missed snowmageddon or whatever it was called though I can imagine it was hard to take advantage of it plus the heightened dangers. I believe I saw it was snowing nice for bbi weekend as well.

And, there's this.
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Water has gushed from a glacier on Mount Rainier, damaging a road and trail as it flowed down.
The News Tribune reports the water burst on the South Tahoma Glacier started Monday without warning.
Mount Rainier National Park officials say the flow formed new waterfalls and moved boulders down the mountain, leading to the closure of Westside Road and the Tahoma Creek Trail.
No injuries were reported.
Geologists say similar glacier bursts could occur in the coming weeks or months.
The park is warning visitors to head to higher ground if they hear unusual sounds or see changes in creek water levels and ground shaking.

Holy dood. Wondered where you went. Sorry about the raw deal. Tell you what, when you can handle your skis as effortlessly as you handled your rugrats when you were at my place you'll be Level 9. I've got some BC ski trinkets and toys that I'm cleaning out. Let me know when you able to swing by. And bring the 3 amigos with you for a hike. Let's see how you do now that they can all run.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Welcome back, BeardMech. I wondered where you went... didn't expect fucking prison. I thought for sure you fell in a crevasse. Best wishes for a successful re-entry.
Get your shit together and come back up to Alpental, I'll take a few runs with ya.

Anyone live in the kent/Covington/maple valley area willing to give some rides to a felonious bearded man with gas money to either Snoqualmie or crystal a few times over the winter? I'm try to figure out whether to buy the ikon base pass or unlimited Snoqualmie pass. My personal car situation is questionable for the beginning of the season.

Nice, I just moved from maple valley to a house in Covington. Near the Costco. I've never skied at crystal and had Snoqualmie passes previously, but figured it would be worth it now to head to crystal

Thanks Wooley and Norse
I'll send you a text (I should still have your number) when I'm in the area. Luckily my wife did not get rid of my ski gear in her fit of anger, but I certainly would love to check out what you got. I was still in the process of collecting all the goodies I need anyway, and now I have a garage dedicated to skiing and my wifes roller derby stuff. Time to turn that bad boy into a workshop.
Things are looking up with a year subscription to 24/h fitness, a 3br, 1b house on a .25 acre lot, and a ikon pass. Re-entry is looking mighty fine right now. I am looking for a cheap car to slap winter tires on to get me up the mountain, to buy in the next few months. WA state will let me drive if I got a blow and go (interlock device) and special insurance, so shouldn't be to long till I'm mobile hopefully.
I've switched up my workout routine and hopefully have it ingrained into my daily routine so it sticks leading into the season. I fucked off for a week, was sick the last week days (my fucking daughter got me), but getting back into the swing of things. Lets hope my increased level of fitness helps me jump back into skiing and kicks up the speed of my progress. This is the re-entry I'm most concerned with.
Fullstack, I'll respond to your pm
Who needs an umbrella when skiing? Is that a thing now?

If anyone wants to go on a hike before the snow starts to fall let me know. I need a good hike. I'd even go for a slow trail run. I was running 6-8 miles 5 times a week and run up to a half marathon before the white guys kicked me out of the white people group for basically being to good a person (I'm a pacifist and one of the nicest people in the world).
Thanks thefortrees, just hit me up.

Hi PNW Maggots,
Flying out from Eastern Canada to get some Aug/Sept turns on the last Timberline weekend. Hitting months 167-168.
Any info on a cheap place to crash around Mt Hood. I know there is a hostel plus the Cascades Ski Club which you need to be a member (or know one) to stay there.
Any other options? Not camping as the only luggage I’m bringing is a ski bag full with my stuff for a few days.
I would appreciate any help or info (lift tix, etc) that could make this « quest » of turns all year the least expensive.
Thanks

Cliff Mass says a McBlob has formed and is growing stronger by the day:

Point forecast for the top of Mt. Baker shows a chance of snow starting this weekend:

I dunno about you, but I'm starting to feel the familiar itch...

Begin spam. Run of Hope 2019 is coming up on October 6th and I would love to see you guys/gals there. Posted a thread in the Padded Room, but not everyone makes it over there, so I thought I would cross-post here.
If you can't make the run, you can still donate to the Team!
