I just rode a lap where it was raining at the top, sleeting in the middle and snowing at the bottom. All within the span of 700'. Weird, indeed...

Artic queef succinctly describes this season so far

Just got a text from a buddy at Baker right now:

    "Fuck it's raining"

    Hopefully it cools down.

We're enjoying a nice morning of freezing rain down here in Hyak. It's okay, I'm sure that'll be good for the base

At least the freezing rain will create a bridge over the bad layers, right?

    Rather warm at Stevens currently.

Anyone know a good bootfitter in the Seattle area? looked up a few shops but none had great reviews.
Need to mold a set of intuitions + maybe a bit of shell work. Nothing serious, but since i'm stuffing a 32.0 powerwrap into a 31.5 rs130 as more or less of an experiment with my weird feet i'd like to see someone who's familiar with intuitions.

I don’t think there is anybody that molds intuitions or works on boots in the Seattle area.

Go to Evo. Ask for Oftpiste's kid.

Honestly, intuitions are pretty easy to do at home with a normal oven, a beer coozy, a pair of scissors, some duct tape, and a friend/girlfriend/wife. But if you insist on paying someone to do it for you, just go to evo on a weekday.

Honestly not sure if you're calling me a dipshit for not knowing a good fitter here or serious. Only been here a few seasons and have been in the same boots for 5 years now.
Just honestly looking for a good recommendation that's not some dumbass who thinks they know what they're doing.

May just try the home bake and If it flops have em rebaked later.

Don't do the home bake unless you know just what you're doing and have done it before. There are a few ways to fuck up the liners in the process.

Go to Evo, maybe even make an appointment.

    I’d recommend against this.

Like I said, I did search. Just asking in the PNW thread if anyone has someone they like in the area that's still around.

I recently had a fantastic experience with Kelly Simmons- Dr Happy Feet. He’s in Wallingford. Very reasonable price, former Lange rep, and 35-40 yrs experience in boots. 206.547.7879

You think so? Im not real handy and i found it pretty darn easy to tape beer coozy to hotspots on my foot, heat the liner in a normal oven (just turn it off when the liner goes in) and have my GF stretch the shell open to mitigate creasing when stepping in. I honestly thought it was pretty idiot proof. And as long as you dont melt the liner, you get a few more tries at it too! haha.

Properly fitting shells, footbeds, grinding/stretching, and actual bootfitting seems pretty experience knowledge and skill dependent though.

I'd this the right way to do it if I'm looking to try boots but I'm not sure I'm ready to buy just yet? I'm flexible about timing and don't really want to take up time when people might be more certain about buying boots

The wait can be atrocious. As long as you're willing to put your name on the list and go slam beers at Pac Inn for a couple hours you're good.

You show my point... easy peasy if you know what can go south and have basic bootfitting knowledge.

But easy to fuck up if ignorant or ill-prepared.

I've worked in a shop and have fit many boots plus a few of my own, but still find it nice to have an expert hand in the process.

    Just, like, my opinion man

Likewise. I’ve fit and molded a lot of liners, including my own at home and I always find I get better results with a set of skilled hands doing the driving. You can only do so much with your own feet in the mold.
