    Huzzah! Thank you thank you!

That Steamboat one is great. Do they just clean one side every 12 hours maybe? A 12 and 24hr set-up? Hope others convert to that if so.

Every state with ski areas should have one of these threads.

What if there were standard requirements that every ski area followed with construction of a snowstake. Abasin doesn't even have measurements.

Rad. Thanks for putting this together.

Possible addition: a description of when each snowstake is cleared. For instance, Steamboat's left is 24hr. Right is storm total. (I personally love this setup as it indicates how soft things are going to feel overall.)

Irwin's is finally running again (they have more money than they know what to do with, you would think they could figure it out). Takes a long time to load though. http://irwinguides.com/webcams

I would think that in 12 hrs they clear one side, then 12 hrs clear the other. Then one side has a running total for a day.

According to my friend who lives there and skis 100+ days a year, that's not how it works though. One is 24hrs. One is "storm total". Defined however they want to.

    Nice! Thanks E!

Still do not understand why Eldora cannot manage to have one of these.

A basin had a large internal conflict where a lot of people didn't want any snowstake camera. The compromise was what you see where it's 18" with rather obvious 6" marks

Um, it's not abundantly obvious to me where the 18" part is and where the 6" marks are, care to share? Maybe hatch can edit that in to the ABasin description.

because the snow would blow off of the base of the stake. (On to West Ridge.) The cams that they do have, you can gauge the totals and the wind roughly.

    Thanks for the thread Hatchgreen!

A Basin's website says the icon is 18" at its peak. But are we talking about the pack of the A, the peak of the lightly colored jagged wood, or the peak of the dark jagged wood? And what marks are the rather obvious 6" marks? Dumbest compromise....

Bump for a great community resource! Thank HGC.

Is the pro-tip to go to the area with something less than the top total?
