Studded fat bike tires

Factory studded tire slide out a little too. They're not going to make you invincible.

I never slide out on ice with my 45nrth studded tires. I use a Dillinger 5 on the front and a wrathchild on the rear. I ride clear ice all the time.

Do you know if those studs are "crowned" or standard studs?

I should qualify that I only slid out on some banked turns and off camber icy patches... running flat I have no problems.

Not sure what crowned means, it’s a concave stud on mine

These are concave but also come to 3 points.

They also have a wider version for double the price but that seems unnecessary to me.

Those only work on a “studdable” tire otherwise fri studs are the way to go for a tire that isn’t designed to be studded. I would recommend factory studded tires, only reason to self stud is if you’re looking for a tire size that’s not offered. Ie 29 x 3 or 27.5 x 3.5
